Is a "jerk" feeling "normal"??

Hi everyone,
I have a 2003 Automatic Lancer and was wondering if anyone else had a "jerk" feeling when the car is shifting at 40 km/h... at the other km's its a lot smoother...i hope i make sense... ... or maybe i am being paranoid??!?!?

I also have a auto....don't seem to feel any "jerk" when it shifts. but I hardly feel anything else in my life other than pain...there CAN be a little problem with it though. maybe you should check it out.

Yes, I get that occasionally too on my ES, I believe it is the torque converter that kicks in at around 40km. I wouldn't worry about it.

a.s.c. on your automatic transmission

are you the only driver of the car?

do you feel this after another driver has driven it?

if so, it's not a problem. it's a.s.c.

check out the manual about the adaptive shift control in your automatic. test your sales agent, he should be able to answer your question. if not pm me or call me.

where did you buy it?

if you bought it at cooksville, come over and let me see/ test drive it. also, let our mechanic check it.

i totally agree with White_Angel,
i'm the one and only driver for my lancer and my 2003 auto lancer also does jerk alot too... especially when it comes to staying at a constant speed around 30-40 km/h during a traffic jam on a highway.
i've actually talked to ben from cooksville (the mechanic), and he said supposively it's a 'transmission flare'.
I forgot what he mentioned exactly, but he said the black box in the engine bay (beside the transmission?) can be repositioned to reduce the 'jerk' during the shift.
So i suggest you should also go to cooksville for a checkup. i haven't done mine yet, but i'm planning to bring it in within these 2 weeks to see how everything will go. I brought in my car to Markham mitsu three times, and they couldn't help me with this problem.

Hope this will help!

well, i'm not quite sure too. it's just that while i was talking to ben about my 'transmission flare' problem... he said one of the reason it happens is because of our crappy transmission made by hyundai.
i was actually quite surprised after i found out our tranny is made by hyundai. Before i heard our chassis is made by chrysler, and now.... the tranny?
I thought our cars were directly imported from Japan... damn!
