I was under the impression that without a firmware update, the device would do nothing when connected to the vehicle.

no the device will not hook up with the 2011 evo at all at this point! itll turn on and say 2011 usdm evo then say error gotta wait for update!

Can you give a time frame for 2011 map release and maybe a hint on when updates for previous year model updates might come?
