Does AP leave a trace?

I just traded in my 05 STI for a 2011 EVO X and Im thrilled to finally own an EVO. Only thing is Id like to get back the power I just gave up. I figured Id start with an AP but am wondering if the dealership can see that the ECU was flashed after the AP is unmarried? I know Subaru could tell if the car had an AP installed even if it was uninstalled and taken back to stock. Is it the same with the EVO? Any help is appreciated thankyou.

There's rumors about a byte being incremented on the ECU, but I haven't heard anything conclusive.

If you want power, why worry about sneaking past the dealer when you blow something up. If you want to play you have to pay. Do you really think when you bring in that brand new car with a blow engine, trans or diff, they aren't going to go over it with a fine tooth comb? They will figure it out, they did program the ECU, do you really think they are stupid to not be able to tell when someone tweaks it, blows up their car then tries to screw the company for their stupidity? C'mon.

Worked for me I got a new SST Tranny... Although I am not heavily modified (intake/exhaust/COBB) but I still received a new one.

I think it is something they have to really dig for to find but they can find it if they really want to.

Im not trying to screw anybody, just not trying to get screwed. Ive seen situations in the past where a dealership will void warranty for something unrelated because of engine mods. I had a leak develop in the heater core of my old cobra mustang. Dealership said the work would not be covered because I had a pulley and tune. Im really just trying to avoid a similar situation. Im dont plan on major mods, just an AP and a catback for now. I dont want to hear some crap about how these things caused excessive wear on the washer fluid hose or something ridiculous like that.

the reality is that if you take any car in with a tune on it that isnt stock claiming any kinda warranty work(read you broke/blew/destroyed ANYTHING) you are going to get a sad look on your face when they tell you the price to get it fixed. So easiest thing to do is either make sure you save up some bread for things go south or get in good with dealership and keep all your stock parts just in case so you can put it back to stock to include the tune, then call a tow truck and cross your fingers, toes, eyes and anything else you can the whole way to the dealership and hope the guy corporate sends isnt a complete douch rocket and PRAY for good news

I opened a thread like this on another forum and was flamed pretty hard.
But the experts are saying that they have a flash counter that keeps track of how many times the ECU has been flashed. So all they have to do is compare it to the service records and if the records show that their is a disperity between the number of flashes provided by the dealer (ie tsb, ect) and the flash counter, they can assume you flashed it.
