K&N Typhoon Intake W/ Cobb AccessPort

So I have a 2010 Evo GSR and purchased the K&N Typhoon intake system and then decided to purchase the Cobb AP. I soon found out that there were no maps for the K&N intake. After a little but of research I found out that because the K&N intake still retains the stock MAF housing you can get by with using the "Cobb SF" intake map. I have had the Cobb Sf intake map while using the K & N intake for 2 days now with no problems and I have been watching the knock... Any input if this is okay to do?

Shouldn't be a problem.

Do you think it will be fine because of the same sized MAF or because the intakes/ intake tube diameters are all pretty much the same?

Should be fine due to the stock MAF housing. If boost and knock check out then you're good to go

+1

I took your recommendation Kracka and picked up the Typhoon for my 2011 GSR. I've had the BETA Stage 2 map on for a week with no problems. I'm getting lower knock counts vs stock. Still getting phantom low rpm low load (so all good)

Thanks again Kracka. Still working my way up to E-85 then FP

So you are running turbo back exhaust as well then? What counts of knock are you getting around like 2500 rpms? Cause sometimes I am getting like 9 counts of knock around 14k-2k rpm.... like 1 of every 15 start from a stops...

Some time shifting and stopping and going will give you "knock". What you really need to watch is what your getting during normal driving/WOT pulls. If you are getting high knock, try using the stock box maps. They worked to me with the ETS.

Yeah, I am getting ZEROOO knock when I am pulling... So it probably is just when i was stopped and shifting again. Im not over boosting and everything checks out! So im guessing the trial is somewhat of a success!

Yea man just keep a eye on the knock, do a test every once in a while, and i would suggest getting a AFR gauge sooner then later.

the low load; low RPM knock is usually engine noise (check for vibrations). Use your Cobb AP to monitor your stats and log in to Cobb forums and let Braden take a look at your logs

knock with K&N fipk

Hey guys looking for some input, I have a typhoon intake system and am running stage 1 93 cobb sf map. I am getting 1-4 counts of knock past 6500 rpm. I changed the tune to the stage 1 91 cobb sf map and still get 1-2 counts of knock past 6350. Here are the maps, first one is sf 93 oct 4 gear pull to the red line, second one is sf 91 map with 3 gear pull to about the red line. I have read that 1-2 counts are nothing to be worried about....what do you guys think?
