Question before purchasing

I wanted to purchase the cobb ap an exhaust and a intake but from what i can see there is no maps that support these mods to get the most power out of them.

Would it be better that i don't get the access port and just get a custom tune?

The Cobb OTS maps do not have specific parts listed in them per say. With the AP you will need to do some slight adjustments to the OTS map if your intake is not listed in the intake spreadsheet: https://cobbtuning.zendesk.com/hc/en...on-Spreadsheet this link has a video which will walk you through the calibration of the OTS map to the intakes listed in the spreadsheet; now if your intake is not listed then you are going to have 2 choices; 1) get a pro tune (best option if you are new to tuning) 2) find the closest intake to the one installed, then carefully tune your car, watching knock, timing, AFR's and stft and ltft values ( there is plenty of info about them on the forum)

The exhaust question is fairly simple when it comes to an AP; if you have a CBE installed use a stage 1 map, if you have a TBE then you can start with a stage 2 map, this also assumes you are using a 3inch exhaust system, if you are using any other size than you will have to self tune everything from a stage 0 map to suit your evo or alternatively get a pro tune.

When you say protune do you mean go to a shop on a dyno and everything or are people over the internet capable of pro tuning

Well yea a protune would be getting the car dyno tuned basically. But you can also get an e tune as well!

Why bother with AP when stock ECU is already capable?

Yes that's correct. There are lots of people on this forum that can also provide you with an e-tune, simply do a search and you will a few; I haven't used any of them, but I know anew people that have, and from what I have heard and seen, results may vary, so use one of the recommended ones here

The car can only hold one map the point of the AP is so you can have different maps. So you can switch to a stock one if you need to do emmissions then bam flash it back when your done. Also the Cobb AP will allow you to log data so you can forward that info to your etuner so he can make tweaks to your tune and send it back to you!

On stock ECU you could have 2 maps and flippable with a toggle switch.
With an old laptop you could have unlimited numbers of maps. Stock ECU could already do what you have said.

E-tunes are very handy. I had mine E-Tuned with Michael Golden (GoldenEvo) and was extremely happy! Had to send maps and logs back and forth but in the end i would not go any other way. He knows his stuff.

A 'Protune' is so 2004. An E-Tune from Hollywood, Golden, Bakaunchi, or Chet is a better choice. Guaranteed they will know more about this platform than most typical protuners.
