Evo 9 MR wont start
Evo 9 MR wont start
Have been dealing with this problem now for a long time. Noticed battery drain issue for awhile which did stop. Changed the ignition, installed new starter (which did not work), then re-installed original starter (car started), battery drained overnight, then back to no start. Has anyone had this problem. Any help would be appreciated.
If the issue is a battery drain, hook up a meter and start pulling fuses to find where the draw is. That's the best starting point.
If your issue is that it just doesn't crank when you turn the key but you have good battery voltage, reference the thread linked below. This has been something that a lot of us have had issues with and the relay wired to a good 12v source and using the original relay setup to trigger the new relay works well.

If you have an aftermarket radio I would start looking into that, I had battery drain issues after installing an android unit. Otherwise as schuhie mentioned go over every fuse to localize the source of the drain.
That definitely sounds frustrating. I’ve seen similar issues where the problem wasn’t with the starter itself but with something causing a parasitic battery drain — like a stuck relay, faulty alternator diode, or even a small short in a wiring harness. You might want to try doing a parasitic draw test with a multimeter to see if there’s a current draw when everything is off. Also double-check all your grounds and battery terminals for corrosion or loose connections.
What make/model is your car? That might help narrow it down further.

is it a small battery? my viper alarm/remote "sending updates" can use up enough juice overnight and wont spin the starter the next day. thats why I have 2 small batts, one is switched off when I park overnight
that was before I fixed my starter relay wiring. now it needs less power to start the car.
