There's a ton of crap on the normal evo that you can get rid of for weight savings that likely won't affect its drivability.. The a/c compressor, condensor, coil, etc.. all that junk weighs about 40 pounds, rear window regulators and motors, replace the rear door glass with either lexan or corning, carbon fiber trunk, lose the spoiler, jack, spare.. The crossbars under the car are steel, I had a set of titanium ones made up to replace it, carbon fiber driveshaft, replacing steel brackets and plates that are bolted on with titanium or aluminum flat stock waterjet cut to copy the stock parts.. Etc.. Alot of this stuff are old school cheater mods since they generally aren't visible easily. Heck, lighter wheels and crossdrilled rotors, shorter diameter tires (or taller if you have the room and Torque) Heck, you can even acid dip the doors if your really insane..

Additionally reducing drag on the car (We all know its not the most slippery body style at high speeds)

Tell me about it. I recall a normally aspirated Taurus SHO that went from a mid-low 14s to 13.3@111 just from removing weight. You'd need a considerable amount of power to do that with a car in street trim. FWIW, the car looked stock on the outside. Dropping weight can make a great deal of difference, and it's free.

Oh, and don't forget the human factor.. Being 130# is a definite advantage over someone who weighs 240#

I'm curious about these "lightweight" rotors. Are they just stock replacement rotors w/ aluminum hats? Or do they have material removed from the outside edges also?

Also, what wheels are you running Curt? And what size?

I was actually wondering the same thing, The only porting I've seen is on the inlet side of the exhaust housing. There's just not alot of material on the cold side to play with, though smoothing blending and matching on the cold side should help a bit.

If somebody can go 118mph on the stock turbo with stock intake manifold in the florida heat then somebody can go 122mph in cold *** weather with more mods. I believe many years ago Curt had gone like 120 or 121 on a small 16g in a dsm. I have no doubt he could run these numbers and I bet he will run better numbers if he continues.

FWIW, the stock intake manifold appears to flow quite well. The dyno data I've seen that pits the stock intake against the aftermarket intakes seemed to indicate the best of the aftermarket pieces did not really outflow the stock intake until over 7000rpm.

I do not doubt the times. However, I do think that his current improvement has alot more to do with the weather rather than the current upgrade of parts. I have a hard time believing that putting a SMIM and 272 intake cam on an EVO with a stock turbo is going to net any gains. Without back to back dyno evidenace I would go as far as saying that the car could lose power where it matters because the power band of the car is now being shifted out of the range where the turbo is most efficient.

With what turbo though? I find that claim to be beyond possible with a 16g.
