GSX vs EVO

Who would win? My friend knows someone who wants to race an evo in his '98 gsx at the strip during the summer. My question is if they both had the same hp and tq, who has the advantage?

Of course, my vote is for the evo but i dont know...

GSX is the awd one right? Then yeah, pretty much just driver skill... assuming same weight and rubber too.

i know that the weight of the gsx, yes awd, is somewhere in the area of 3600-3800 lbs.

my friend has an '97 rs and it weighs 3700. how much evo weigh, like 3300 right?

Ok. I am pretty sure your numbers are way off.

And that the 2nd gen eclipses ran around 3100 lbs.

Evo weighs 3260-3290 approx

the Rs weighs like 3218.

that weight you estimate is about what a vr4 would be at.

The gearing in the Evo definately gives it the advantage.

Well i was just going off of what my friend told me b/c he has an eclipse so i assumed that he knew how much his own car weighed but i guess i was wrong, sorry. And, i was not off with the evo guestimate.

i just read my post and it sounds like i am pissed off, which i'm not. Sorry how that sounds.

Why people don't want to elaborate good questions and make things difficult to understand?,

Anyway, tell your"friend" the one that knows another "friend" that please be a bit more specific about his "GSX", I mean, what is it? is it a 1990 GSX 1G Automatic or 5 speed? is it a 2g GSX automatic or 5 speed? what mods that he has? what type of "race" is he looking for?

I owned 2 GSX's before( a 1990 5 speed and a 1991 5 speed), they can be fast in fact , they can be as fast or faster than the EVO's with basicly the same mods.

I have taken my GSX's to the track and I also have taken my 05 Evo MR to the track and the Eclipses impressed me.
As per the weight of the car, before we start making ignorant and irrelevant comments, please lets hear it from people like me which have taken cars to the track and weighted them all the time.

My 91 GSX 5 speed with moonroof weighted 3110lbs with almost gas tank empty
My 03 WRX 5 speed (sold it) weighted 3042LBS with almost no gas on it
My 05 EVO MR weighted 3226 LBS with almost no gas on it.

Anyway, lets focus a bit more in producing some good interesting topics and not so much of topics that lacks on essential information and are full of guessing information.

My last word goes for the EVO, the EVO will absolutely smoke the Eclipse GSX in cornering and braking, not so much in pure accelartion or a race from a roll.

settle down bud, read the post, and its seems ur the only one who cant understand the question so far. Plus, this is all hypothetical until this summer when it actually happens.

my first post stated IF THEY HAD THE SAME HORSEPOWER.

When i first got my evo..bone stock, i raced my buddy with a 98 gsx from a 20 mph roll. He had just a boost controller. I took him like no other.
