Srt neon vs My evo... Almost even.. Wtf

I raced an srt 4 on a private road and i was only ahead a few feet... He wouldnt race me from a dig so we went from about a 35mph roll. I was only ahead by about 3 feet up to 105 mph. I have no idea how it was even close. He claimed he was almost stock. I should be running 12.5-12.6's with my current mods. I'm pretty pissed off about this. The only thing i can think of is a dont have a reflash for my intake and upper ic piping. Would this make that big of a difference? I'm very close to getting rid of my Evo because it just dosnt seem as fast as it should be. I should have like 320awhp. let me know wtf u guys think.

Dont delete this thread the race was on a private road that my friend owns that leads to his house. It was not a "street race."

Put some cams in it will be a different story. Srt-4 are torque monsters and he ran you right from his sweet spot! Good run!

Cams are going in before summer for sure. I dont think i could handle the ego blow of being that close to getting beat by a neon again.

^ I second that. I've driven a friend's SRT-4, which is stock (other than a BOV), and my Evo is much quicker. He's done a little more than he's owning up to. He also ran in you his optimal power band.

Stock?? I dont think so, Stage 2 neon with slicks - i say 13.2 on 1/4 mile, from roll they can keep up (again depends on the mods) + its a FWD. If he was Almost stock why would he race you?...

That depends on the definition of "almost" stock... they're not slow cars, people need to wake up and smell the burnt popcorn, there are "neons" out there faster than some Evos, take a chill pill and realize that there's no way he could pass a 911 Twin turbo on a track, and that it wouldn't be difficult for you at all.

Well almost stock could mean a few different things. But SRT-4 from a roll does very well. You have to remember that our Evo's from a roll aren't that fast until you do cam's. Throw in a set of hks 272's and it will be like night and day.

lets face it when most of them say "almost stock" that leaves a BROAD range of possibilities here for ya to guess what he has done.... I've heard the "almost stock" from a guy who has a civic... I think the body was the only thing that was "stock" about it... and he did run you from his sweet spot to say the least.... i've run an SRT-4 that was stage II... he agreed to go from 40.. once on the road wouldn't go slower than 70 b/c he knew that was my weak spot... wasn't as close as yours(put a few cars on him) but you gotta realize these guys look at our cars and drool either way.... and they try and figure out where ours are weak and run us from that point b/c its the only way they can win... screw 'em

Without a tune for your intake you're probably losing HP. When I had pretty much what you have now including a tune for my intake I ran a 12.7. A SRT-4 WILL keep up to you from a roll if that's all you have done. Like said above though...throw on a set of cams (you don't HAVE to get 272's) and there's no way he'll be able to stick with you.

the only reason he kept up with you was becasue you guys went from a roll, and not a dig. SRT-4's are fwd and can't be launched. So going from a roll is to his advantage because of less hp on fwd compared to an EVO which has awd. Ask him to go from a dig and see the end result.
