Thumbs down Third gear woes

Hey guys - i currently own a Lancer OZ that i drag race. This is frustrating me to no end.... when i "ATTEMPT" to shift into 3rd - i have a hard time getting the car to go in gear. This has cost me some good runs and cost me a round win today.

The thing that makes me the most frustrated is i was on a good run too - .264 RT ( i know could have been better ) but a 2.46 60' and a 10.92 660' . I swapped my worn out front tires with the back ones which seemed to help on my launch.

Has anyone else experienced this ?? I shift between 5 - 6000 but whatever i do it don't seem to make a difference. I don't know if i want to invest in a short shifter cuz i may be getting rid of this car in the fall. Any suggestions ???

I ended up running a 16.94 on a 16.90 dial. ( 83.05 mph - 2.46 60' ) Lost to a turbo civic by .092 sec.

I am looking for help here peoples - has anyone had trouble with third and if you've overcome the problem - what did you do ????

Only time there was any trouble was if I tried to shift too fast and let out the clutch too early. It's all timing really. Gotta wait till you make a smooth shift to be able to let back out the clutch. I know it sounds too easy but practicing shifts does make a difference in the timing of things.

If you haven't already look at getting a short shifter that also helps to make shifts more precise and quicker.
