new best #'s from the track!

Went to atco after work on tuesday for street night. The air was good and lots of people showed up, I got to make a few passes but only 2 of them were any good.

First pass I went 13.49@ 104.40 and my 60' was 1.86, it's not the greatest but I knew it was a decent start for the nite.

Second pass was the best of the night I didn't even let the car cool down, drove right up to the line and went 13.31@ 106.03 with a 1.80 60' a new personal best et & mph! I think the boost is dialed in just right at 1.3bar on 94 octain. After that pass I let the car cool down for about 30 minutes or so and aired the rear tires down from 40psi to 35psi.

Third pass started off well with a 1.76 - 60' & 8.43@ 81.03 in the 1/8th but I had a problem getting into third gear and then fourth so I only went 13.72@ 97.19, if I would have drove right I could have had a 13.1-2... it was also my best ever 60'!

The last pass of the night was made after waiting around over 2 hours while they pulled all the other lanes and a TON more people showed up. Again I had trouble with 3rd gear and only ran 13.71@ 102.29 my 60' on that one was 1.87.

My car is 100% stock with the exception of a mbc set to 1.3bar as read off the factory gauge. My gas tank was just above 1/4 full and there was no weight reduction done at all, the spare and some of my other tools were all in the car. I'm prett happy with the results, I think the car will go 12s if I can drive it right... let me hear what you think???

I don't know...your numbers don't add up. You shouldn't be hitting 106mph stock first of all, and if you did hit 106, you should be well into the 12s, especially with those 60' times. Maybe the MBC holding boost level all the way to redline in each gear helps enough for a few mph? Anyway, I ran 13.17@103.89 in my stock MR (no mbc or anything) with only a 1.92 60'. If I had a 1.80 60', that's at least a 13.05, but more likely closer to 12.95-13.00 since 60' differences aren't linear. If I was anywhere near 106mph, I'd be doing 12.9x easily, and maybe even 12.6-12.7 with a good 60'.

How much of a difference can a MBC make?

I think everyone knows what you run in your stock MR you put it in everyone of your post... no doubt if I could drive the car better it would be in the 12s but problems getting 3rd & 4th prevented me from getting the number, at least my 60' got better with the last 9 out of 10 being 1.86 or better

This past Sunday I dynoed 257awhp & 269awtq on a dynojet dyno, 1.3bar on 94 octain. I don't put a lot of faith in dyno #'s but it can be a good tool for tuning. I tried out different boost setting and found one that works OK on my car, just the addition of a MBC makes a nice difference.

Well, ok, whatever. You never mentioned you were missing shifts. That would explain the poor times. The dyno numbers also help explain the 106mph. You're right not to trust dyno numbers explicitly, but they do help when comparing stock vs mods. I think you're certainly capable of 12.7-12.8 with that mph and those 60's. I think that's great for just an MBC.

What year and model is your car.. 106mph trap speed is pretty damn good for only a mbc set at 1.3 bar

Uh, no, you only said you had trouble getting into gear on the really crappy runs with the terrible et/mphs.

You didn't say ANYTHING about missing shifts on the 13.3 @ 106. How would this include missing shifts when in the next run you missed shifts and the numbers were nowhere near the same? Why would you mention it on the other runs that sucked, but not mention it on this one, unless it didn't happen? I was only referring to this run, because it's the only one with a 106mph trap, which should be a 12.5-12.8 with proper driving.

thanks I'm very happy with the MPH, I can't wait to get back and try again.
my evo is an 04 w/ss&l package, I weighed in on a trucking scale around the corner and was 3500lb w/me in it at 185lb... time for some weight reduction
