The clutch is RPS and thanks for the comments...I will have Jay put a pic up if he wishes

Jeff_Jeske- Yeah the times are fast but it definately had more, especially if we took some weight out and the clutch held.

For those of you asking...there are no cams in the car.
Take it easy!

Just out of curiosity where in CT are you from? I'm down in Danbury. Looking for some local Evo owners.

EvilDylan, what were you running for boost and were you running on pump gas?

+1

There has to be some unmentioned variable allowing for such a high mph. The mph doesn't just come from nowhere like that without cams. Both of you have incredible MPH for no cams, but I am not sure where it's coming from. First guess for me would also be excessive boost on race fuel. If so, that's still awesome. If not, well...I bow to thee.

No that definitely wasnt on pump gas.

my boost was set at 25 psi tapering to 19 and i was on 114 octane. I think it would probably trap in the 110 or 112 area on pump gas.

I did 90 mph in the 1/8th on pump gas and 91.3 on race gas.

Ok, phew! That's still awesome for both pump and race gas. You must have had a way to tune for the race gas runs...

Those still are great mph's.
Most racers already know this, but doesn't hurt to say it again.
The lighter you are the better. For evey 100# you can take off, that's a difference of 0.1 sec in your quater mile. (maybe more in these since AWD).
Removing weight never hurts, unless you are so light you can't get traction. Easy to do in FWD and RWD cars, but we can really benefit from reduced weight.
The parts on the evo are pretty light (had my entire front end apart so i know, there ain't much to it) The trunk doesn't have alot either.
Everything you can remove, get rid of it for the races. Gut trunk, remove spare tire and any tools, junk, subwoofer boxes, remove you rear seats (hell mitsu made that easy, they got pull pins!), you can remove the pass seat.
Lightening your vehicle will also make your clutch have to work less hard on your launch.

Keely, if you drive your car around normally for a couple hundred miles, you might break that glaze off your stock clutch and be good for some more racing with it, before you have to change it.

Yeah, the clutch will stay in for a bit. I just don't want to take the chance at the next event and not have the clutch hold. It would really be a bummer.

Question of the century...the car weighs about 3260...where is all the weight hiding! The seats, panels on the body all don't add up to much...

The DSM's were so easy to get down in weight but not these suckers!

Ah, nice, I saw the "ecu+," but didn't realize it was an actual tool. My S-AFC has a race and pump "map"...they're written on a sheet of paper that I can refer to at the track depending on what fuel I'm running.

Honestly, I don't know.
I would do what I mentioned above for race days, but as far as permanently removing the weight, not too sure. One trick I used in my Dodge was to remove the entire interior, carpet and everything, then remove the heavy insulation under the carpet. Then I put the carpet and seat back in. the Dodge used that recycled fibers covered in a thick black layer. That stuff is heavy. The Evo doesn't seem to have the same stuff. the materials all seem lighter. It would take removing alot of little things to equal 100 #.
That car has alot of drivetrain weight, and suspension weight. Plus there is alot of extra sheet steel in bracing and frame to make the car more rigid. All this adds up.

If you want to keep it simple get lighter rims and tires.

If you are hard core....then out goes the AC, HID motors, rear wiper, rear speakers, and mentioned above interior.
