Well went to the drag strip.

I went to the drag strip this past saterday, and let me tell you it was so much fun.
I have a small video of one of my runs but don't know were to get it hosted..

Anyways I was talking to a few other evo owners, and they seem to think that getting cam gears and cam shafts will give you the most gains for little money.

And an electic boost controller is better than a mbc,

basicly what they told me to get is, in this order

Boost gauge ( allready have it)
turbo back exhaust ( I have cat-back )
aftermarket bov ( don't have yet ) thinking about getting the gready type s
electronic boost controller ( don't know what to get )
and then cam gears and cam shafts
then get it tunned

Is this true, is it all right to have cam gears with out the cam shafts or vice versa
what do you gus think I should do next,

low 14's and high 13's with practilly stock evo the only mod I have is the catback exhaust..

I have a hard time gettung it off the line, whats the best way to get it off the line with out
dumping the clutch.. The evo 8 to me is by far the hardest car to get off the line..

I am very new to the track, actually this was the first time..
do you want to here a funny story

well the first time I pulled up to get ready I didnt realize it was done by sensors so I pulled
up way to far and the guy at the line had to back me up, then I backed up to far and I had to forward again. I did this about three times before I relized I had to watch the lights.

HAHAHA. I did that too my first time at the track. Haven't been back since, but I will be soon. My friend who line up with me tried to yell at me that I wasn't close enough to the staging line, but by then it was too late since we were already lined up. I didn't make the same mistake on the second run!

Before worrying about mods, I'd learn to drive the car first. If you have an 03-04, you should run 13.1-13.3 with a cat-back. With an 05, 12.9-13.1. When you get to this point, then go with mods.

My suggestions:

MBC
DP, HF cat or test pipe
Flash
BOV (greddy type s, aps, turbosmart, JDM MR BOV)

Cams and cam gears are great, but that's getting into some bigger money and tougher installation.

me and a buddy with a celica gt-s went together for the first time to at the drag strip so we both wouldnt feel retarded and both had no idea what the staging lights were until the guy pointed it out to us lol.

**** is embarrassing, but im sure over 75% of all drag racers did it their first time ever racing.

Not making fun... But no one here watches NHRA??? Just seems like everyone wants to race but no one watches to learn. Its all good. My 1st bracket race I red lighted to a stock mid 90's accord lx sedan. LOL

Somewhere out there, there's a kid with a stock accord tellin his friends that these stickers help beat an evo 8.

Luckily you didnt have any Vegas odds makers in on this deal, those who had bet the accord would win, would be living the high life now

Yes, I did the same about 7-8 years ago. I have never cared to watch drag racing, so when I had to stage for the first time, I spent several seconds tripping the lights off and on unknowingly. Ignorance + Butterflies = sheer stupidity...at least that's how I felt anyway.

Do yourself a favor and budget your plans for your vehicle... get an idea of how much power and what times you'd want to run eventually... then plan it out with the amount of money you have to spend.

I would definitely suggest the same mods Warrtalon posted... minus the cam gears (I argue that they make no extra power, only shift it). Search through the Evo forums and you'll see plenty of posts on pathways to help aid in mod'n your car.

By the way, if you like the dragstrip as much as some of us do, plan a clutch job into your budgeting too.
