trap speed of 100mph...

i was just curious since trap speed is a good indication of HP. Whats strange is that i was running 13.3's. on an 03 with exhaust and cat delete. i have a buddy with the exact same set up we're both gettin 1.8X 60' times but he's trapping 105-109. we're getting basically the same times 13.2-13.3.

anybody care to share shed some light on this?

So are you saying you are only trapping 100, while he traps 105-109 (that's a big gap)? Either you're making way less power and shifting much better, or you are making about the same power until 4th gear at which point you are losing power.

I'd have to see the 1/8th-mile splits explain it better. If he's hitting 109 and only 13.2-13.3, then my bet is that he's a terrible driver while you are a very good driver.

thanks for the response man i appreciate it. The thing is he's a good driver too. We've done time slip comparisons. up to the 1/8th we're about even. After that it seems like he's pulling on me.

the only thing We can think of is the difference in D.P's I have the HKS 2.75 and he has the helix 3.00. i'm thinking that i have better low end and midrange and he has the better top end which is why it seems likes he's pulling on me after ~60-70 MPH.

i guess i'll have to change D.P's one of these days and do some highway pulls to see how it feels compared to the HKS.

Well hold on, you didn't answer my question. Are you trapping 100mph like the thread title says or are you trapping the same as he is? I'm not being mean, but he's not a very good driver if he traps as high as 109 yet doesn't get better than 13.2. You can see my times in my sig, and I still have the stock DP/cat. I did a full second better with a 109 trap. I'm a good driver, but not great...

yeah i'm only trapping 100mph. he's trapping closer to 105-107. maybe i was exaggerating a little when i said 105-109. but thats still a pretty big difference.

All Evo's are not built the same. Some are just a freak out of the box and some aren't.

OR...
Maybe he's running more boost and not telling you.

Then I need to know the EXACT splits. If you have the same 1/8th-mile et/mph, then something is wrong with your car, because it's making very little power on the backside. STock 03/04s trap 100, so you should be well above that...

Even if he's at 105-107, he should be in the 12s...

i've run 13.6 @ 100 mph.here in hawaii. we have slower times accross the board. i think its cause of the high heat/humidity. this is w/ stock exhaust.

a better example is my s-10. it used to run 16.9 consistant, but the more power i added, the slower the times. i.e 17.1,17.2 but my trap mph went up. i had a harder time hooking up the more power i added!
