First time at the drag strip for me...

Well I went up to the track last night and decided to do a few runs considering it was the last night of the season for this track. There were a ton of cars so I only got 3 runs in. First run was a 14.4 @ 96mph (as you can tell this is my first time at the track). 2nd run was 13.7 @ 100mph, gettin better but still horrible. My final run i did a 12.9 @104mph. I also didnt launch hard due to the fact i don't have money to replace my clutch any time soon. Here is my info for the 12.9 run

60ft - 2.147
330 - 5.617
1/8 - 8.437
mph - 86.41
1000 - 10.855
1/4 - 12.930
mph - 104.11

I plan on upgrading my clutch over the winter so hopefully I will be pulling out some much better numbers by next season. I just figured i'd share my first time at the strip with you guys because now I am addicted lol. I wanted to do more passes but there wasn't enough time.

I've said it many times, and I'll say it again - there's no reason to bother going to the track if you aren't going to launch. Without a real launch, the entire run is ruined, so why even waste your time? You also can easily launch hard on the stock clutch with no problem. It was only 3 attempts...no reason not to launch hard.

Anyway, for a 2.1 60', a 12.9 is pretty good. I have no idea why you only got 104mph after hitting 86 in the 1/8th, though. Did you miss 4th, let off early, or hit the brakes early? Picking up 86mph in the 1/8th after a non-launch shows that you are making very good power, but picking up only 18mph in the back 1/8th shows a severe loss of power due to heavy knock unless you messed up something.

I think when you launch for real next season (new clutch or not), you will see mid-to-low 12s and 110mph, if not more, unless there really is a knock problem at the top of 4th...

room to grow. make sure you take out the restrictor and change the clutch line and the stock clutch will hold just fine. We have 100 passes on our stock evo clutch with those mods and she is still holding strong.

warrtalon - I didnt miss 4th, I could have possibly hit the brakes a little too early because my 13.7 run was at 104mph also. Could a small boost leak lead to me trapping low speeds? because i noticed my boost didnt really go past 20psi the whole time. It was set to spike to 24 and taper to 22 but it hasnt been doing that lately.
