IX turbo on VIII drag results

Previous best time with stock 05 turbo was 11.94 @ 114

New times with oem IX turbo:

60ft - 1.66
330 - 4.85
1/8 - 7.53
mph - 90.40
1000 - 9.85
1/4 - 11.79
mph - 116.44

60ft - 1.63
330 - 4.83
1/8 - 7.52
mph - 90.13
1000 - 9.84
1/4 - 11.79
mph - 115.61

Boost was 25psi >22psi in 3rd on 116 octane. This is also with the stock o2 housing since I broke the downpipe bolts on my Ebay o2.

Custom dual stage Dynoflash coming soon.

Nice times and thanks soo much for posting, now we have a clear indication of what this turbo upgrade is capable of doing. You still need a retuning right?

Were your previous runs with the stock 8 turbo similar in regards to those great low 1.6 60ft launches you just got. The other thought I had was If you picked up 25mph in the back half with the 9 turbo, what did you pick up on the 8? It seems to me what makes the IX with mivec faster is its top end on the back half.

Thanks guys, yes I will need a retune. Looks like I gained about 15whp on race gas.

I cut a 1.58 and 1.62 60fts when I ran 11's on the stock turbo. I picked up 24-26mph with the stock turbo as well but I hit the 1/8 1-2 mph faster with the 9 turbo.

Damn I wish I could hold boost like that. I really need to find that boost leak lol.

I'm planning on doing this upgrade too.

If your previous 60's were better and you beat those times by .15ish, I would call that a worry investment. Thanks for the good info.

I did minus some fuel with my afc. I used the same settings that I used on the stock turbo.

That's correct, no tune for the 280's or the new turbo. I used to get 16-17 degrees timing on top with the 272's but when I dropped in the 280's I top out at 12 degrees.
