What happened?

Go to the track for the first time in the Evo (not the first time ever). Track was terrible, bumps/dips middle of track, no traction. After launching I just got wheelspin.

60Ft- 2.1
Et- 14.0
MPH- 96

Mods are:
K&N cone
Mail In Dynoflash
Catback

What should I be running? I am tempted to go to my "normal" track to rerun. The clutch is still good, lauches were perfect (other than wheelspin) with the help from the launch control. I was shifting about 7000-7200 because I know power tends to drop off there in Evos.

Any thoughts/comments appreciated.

60 ft time is high if you can get it down to a 1.8 or so you could probably be around 13.7 13.8, im not sure what your looking to hit with those mods..

That is what I was thinking.

For the record I didn't even attempt the "no lift shifting" I'm sure it would help my times.....but I am on the stock clutch.

Well with a better 1.7 or so 60' you could be seeing some mid 13's. Your mph is low for your mods however. You should be trapping 102-104. Have you checked for boost leaks?

What do you mean good light? If you mean the tree / reaction time it doesnt matter at all. You can have a reaction time of 2.9 and it wont affect the pass at all.

Something has got to be wrong with your tune or lack there of. Did you get tuned for the intake or not? That could be hurting you.

I know it's not JUST driver because assuming best case scenerio, he cuts 1.7 60' and shifts in a normal fashion, that would still be a stock time car. With those mods you should be in the 12's.

These times could only indicated:

A. Missed shifting into multiple gears + horrible 60' + very slow pedal modulation.

OR

B. Car is running horribly.

Whether or not he ran a 12 or a 13 doesn't matter as much as the fact that he only trapped 96mph! Ive never seen a stock car trap that slow.

My car traps right around there on mid 13 second runs all the time. I think at as low as 96 @ 13.8 (mis shift...)

Well here is the deal....I wasn't at the normal track I run at. I have a buddy who ran over at this same track, same day: 15.4 at 88 mph. 3 days later he runs at our normal track, nothing different: 14.9 at 91 mph.

I think I need to run at my normal track before coming to any conclusions.

As far as boost leaks I am where I am supposed to be 19 psi peaking at 20.

I will update this when I get to the track.

Like many before you and surely many to come after you, the fact that you see 19-20psi on your boost gauge has nothing to do with having a boost leak or not. For whatever reason, people think that the only way to have a boost leak is if your boost doesn't peak at the right amount or if it drops severely from peak. Although a major boost leak could cause either or both of those symptoms, MOST Evos have small leaks (yes, multiple) that would never be heard nor seen without doing a pressure test (boost leak test).

What happens is the turbo has to work harder to overcome these leaks and still maintain your desired boost. So, in your case, you could be SEEING 20psi on your boost gauge, but the turbo may be pushing 24-25psi to overcome the leak(s) just to keep it there. Working harder means blowing hot air and making less power.
