First track outting for the Evo...

Went out to Atco last night for a night of racing. Weather was COLD and it showed. Tons of wrecks, oil downs, spinning, etc. Only got 2 runs in because of that.

First run the stock clutch slipped pretty bad on the launch netting me a 1.9 60'. Ended up getting locked out of 3rd somehow and ran a 13.0@ 109. Not a bad mph for a crappy pass.

2nd pass ended up toasting the clutch BAD off the launch...slipped all the way to the top of 2nd. Ran a 13.1@111. Pretty happy with the mph based on the mods so I know the car has a 12.5 in it the way it sits (with a new clutch). So, it looks like an Exedy twin is in my NEAR future.

Nice mph and good times for your first time out. First time i went to the track i ran a 13.0 also before my tune. After you get a clutch installed i suggest getting a tune sometime in the near future. I've heard from a lot of people that tuning your car to your mods and after you get a clutch installed is a good idea, and it definitely worked for me. I went from a 13.0 at 107 to a 12.3 at 112 with a crappy 1.855 60 ft.

The clutch is my major stubbling block right now. ...well, that and the fact that it's been 4 years since i've raced. Last cars that I raced were a 90 Talon that went 11.9@118 on a big 16g and a Supra that went 10.9@139. Sold those cars and sort of went on a drag racing hiatus.

I think you've got a 12.3/12.4 in her with that mph. We both know that ATCO is more well prepped track than E-town, so you should be able to hook a 1.7 with the least effort. Try slipping your clutch a little less. GOOD LUCK next time.

Can't wait to get back with a new clutch. The 1.9 was with me side stepping the clutch....slipping the clutch a little netted me a 2.1...needless to say the clutch was NOT happy as it slipped all the way through 2nd.

lots of potential there, just need a strong clutch to get that 1.6-1.7 60'

Dude Atco is the worst for getting good et's in the cold..Hello wet tires and they put the cone of death out there to put you out of the groove so the gamblers get the good spot on the launchpad..Notice how they never sweep the area after the waterbox lol..Last time I went there I could do no more then a 2.0 spinning 245/45 tires at 20psi from a 4500 launh control..

haha...i'm glad it's not just me thinking that. It's been 4 years since i've been there so imagine my surprise when I remembered that you can't drive around the water box...wonderful! WTF is up with that cone?? That's seriously retarded!! Track prep sucked as well...so overall it was a scary night for any night with some power.
