How harmful is it to no lift shift?

I have an 06 EVO IX SE & will be taking it to the strip when they open back up & was wondering how hard it is on the drivetrain to no lift shift the car. When I go to the track I should have a TBE, Injen intake & IC pipes, Boost controler, & Dyno tune, but will most likely be on the stock clutch. Im not so much woried about the clutch since I know it's going to need to be replace fairly soon anyway. I was wondering if no lift shifting is overly harsh on the rest of the driveline. Is it any worse than launching the car from the 2 step (not dumping the clutch)?

it depends if you have a dog box transmission...

You're not going to last long no lift shifting on a stocker trans.

Ask any of the major drag racers on here... Devo, ETS, AMS, Bushy, etc., etc., etc..

You should run a NLTS ecu patch from tephra so the RPM's will drop a bit. Hopefully you don't miss a gear with your foot stuffed in the gas pedal

The tranny (5 speed), TC, & diffs are stock. Is this patch something I can have done when it is dyno tuned or is that something I have to get elsewhere? Sounds like this may not be a good idea for the car.

if you shift fast it can hurt more than help.... that just keeps you from bouncing the limiter... but will also add a little lag if you dont suck at shifting

I tested it today & shifted from 3rd to 4th at 7000 RPM & did not hit the rev limiter. If I do miss a shift will it hurt something or just bounce off the rev limiter? If I do it right will I be asking for trouble?

I wouldnt expect the syncros to last too long with alot of no-lifting. Other than that, it really doesn't hurt much else, especially with a stock clutch.

Well my fully built TRE trans broke after 2 months of constant nl shifts with an un sprung act 6 puck. I ended up shearing my 3rd gear syncro to pieces, 25.00 fix but It took me 1 whole day to do the labor. On the other hand it sure felt good and I would have it no other way. why shift like an old woman?

True, once you get it dialed in at the right rpm drop it's pretty slick as long as you stay consistant with shifting
