Okay I'm not sure if this should've been in here or in the "driving Techniques" part mods can move this if they feel they need to.
First off mods to car:
AEM EMS
AMS 2.3 Liter (rpm limit to 7500)
AMS GT35RL Turbo Kit
AMS VSR Intake Manifold
Exedy triple plate cerametallic clutch
HKS 272/272 cams
Various other supporting mods....
Made 530whp on 110 octane on the Buchur mustang dyno. 110 is what I plan on running at the track.
I know to lower the tire pressure. That will help you "hook up". BUT what about my coilover settings? Would a softer dampener setting also help you hook up better?
Also, the burn out box. The only evos I see actually doing this are the crazy 800-900whp cars. dont see them burnout but I do see them do a hard launch through there that does spin the tires some. does this actually warm up the tires enough to risk breaking a drivetrain part? Do any cars in my HP range (with street tires) do this or should I just go around it (I'm thinking I should just go around it).
Do you think that since my rev limiter is set to 7500 will that hurt my time quite a bit? I'm thinking I'd still have to shift to 5th even if it was at 8000 or so.
I know to not run a full tank of gas because of the weight, also know to take the spare tire out.
also I've been having trouble with my shifter, kind of wacky shifting where every gear is somehow shifted to the right. I need to get this fixed because of this I'm kind of nervious about the 4th to 5th shift. Kind of nervious I'd shift to 3rd. But I'm guessing I would be getting major lockout and it wouldnt let me go into 3rd. Does that seem correct?
here is the thead about the "wacky" shifter since I didnt go into detail about it. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=330640
feel free to comment or add anything
thanks,
John

I'm by no means an expert, but I would expect that you want the suspension to be as stiff as possible, without causing wheel-hop. I'd probably start at the medium or 0 setting, and going from there... go softer if you are hopping and go stiffer if you are not.
It gets more complicated on RWD where you are trying to get weight transfer to the rears.
As far as the burnout box, of course getting all 4 to spin is to your benefit. The question is how much stress do you want to put on your drivetrain... that's up to you. Personally, I go around it.

Try to get some wheel spin so you dont break the drivetrain... Once you get some passes with the new setup then work on your 60'......
Good luck!
Good luck!

oh ok. I guess I was thinking that I would want to transfer my weight to the rear tires. I guess it doesnt matter as much with the evoOriginally Posted by ShamelessCookie

I have a shepherd tranny and transfer case. I guess my weakpoint in the drivetrain are my axles. BUT I'm sure it's possible to break even a rebuilt tranny and transfer case.Originally Posted by 4WS@TopLevelAuto

I heard you couldn't get traction and also shifting to 5th. Get that rev limiter raised and get some better tires. I'll be running with a similar setup in a month... engine's still getting built. Nice pics btw w/ dwyer's blacked out evo
Good luck thursday.

Yes sir, did very bad lol BUT not making excuses. the traction issues were mostly my fault. Being locked out of some gears is another thing I have to fix. I thought it was my clutch pedal not being adjusted right which wasnt fully disengaging my clutch and that makes it hard to get into gear. But today I adjusted the pedal and it didnt help any. sooooooo I dunno ... I'm gonna keep trying though Originally Posted by Duby
