Low trap for my mods?

I went to the strip for the first time ever today and had some less than great runs. I was still on my winter tires, but my best run was only a 13.106 @ 106.37 or so, 1.944 60'. My best trap of the day was on a terrible bog of a launch and a 2.1 60', but even that was only a 108.29 or something similar. I was also shifting on the slower side but not that slow. Stats:

IX GSR
Megan TBE, no cat
Hallman @ ~21 psi
AMS FMIC/LICP
TTP e-mail flash/MIVEC tune

I really feel like I ought to have trapped higher despite bad launches. Opinions? I may have a boost leak that I plan on testing soon, but a log showed only a few counts of knock and nothing up top.

I have raced a IX MR with the same mods as me and we were essentially dead even. I can't imagine a bad launch would really kill my trap that badly, would it?

You will get better. TTp tunes are bulletproof, you wouldn't be dissapointed.

I guess I'm not too concerned about the tune as just the trap speed in general. Warr was saying in another thread that a IX with basic bolt-ons ought to be trapping a lot higher...

See, now I really have to wonder...because I'd imagine we are at very similar power levels and 106 seems low to me for 330WHP. I guess trap speeds are more dependent on the driver than I realized.

Congrats on a good run, the track was pretty slick out there. I spun pretty decently on that 13.109...

Saw both of you guys there today.
I was in the Wingless silver 8.

72tornado,
I remember you saying it was your first time dragging an Evo and insisting to launch at 4krpms after we said to use your 2 step instead.
That's whats killing your 60'
You just can't say you have 330whp just because you raced your friend who has.
Sure with your mods you should be around that but mail-in tune tend to be on the conservative side.
Also don't rule out boost leaks, bad gas, shifting, etc...for your low trap.
What rpm's were you shifting at?
Can you give us the breakdown on your slip?

I do agree it was slicky out there. Especially the right lane. Launched sideways once.

I launched off the 2-step my last couple runs but still didn't let out the clutch fast enough. The car is still only a year old and I don't like to beat on it too hard, but after a couple runs I realized you guys were right and it really doesn't hurt to launch that high.

I'm definitely not assuming I have 330WHP for sure but it certainly seems to be the norm for my mods. I just gave the example of my friend to indicate that my car probably isn't unusually slow for what it is. I was shifting around 7400rpm, and on the 108 trap run I felt that my shifting was decent speed-wise. I mentioned the possibility of a boost leak in my original post so I'm not ruling that out...

I'll post up the details of the slip tomorrow. Thanks for the help

If he ran a 12.8 @ 106 and you are 108-109 with ****ty launch and slow shifting, then your car is at least 12.4-12.5 @ 110+

That's what I was hoping. Yup, I'm running on 93 oct (and only from Shell). My best ET of the day (13.106) actually came with my lowest trap (106.37), but I wasn't shifting as fast as possible - didn't want to miss a gear again. Here's the breakdown of a couple runs:

Best ET
60' 1.944
330 5.458
1/8 8.418 @ 83.96
1000 10.976
1/4 13.106@106.37

Best trap
60' 2.151
330 5.737
1/8 8.664 @ 84.71
1000 11.179
1/4 13.274@108.29

The trap speeds on my other two runs were both at a mid-107. I'm still a little concerned on how I'll gain 2-3mph on the big end (I don't think my shifting was that bad) but I suppose it'll just have to wait.

For every tenth on the front, you get two on the back so your 2.15 60' minus a more realistic 1.72 60' = 0.43 difference x 2 =0.86. 13.274-0.86 = 12.414 on just a launch improvement alone, let alone faster shifting.

Yeah, I know that much and it certainly sounds in line with my own thoughts. But in your experience, what do cars with mods like mine typically trap at?

My mods are in my signature as well as my fastest time. Funny thing is, my 60ft was a 1.90 on that run...it ended up being my best run. I attribute it to faster shifting and shifting higher in the rpm band - I was really trying to run down a modded WRX which had a 1/2 second better reaction time...I got him .
