17th Annual DSM/EVO Shootout **MEGA MERGE THREAD**
an ultralight weight version?? i want one!! time to ditch my stock driveline now!
Speaking of which did the ESA class end up bracketed or something?
Only reason I ask is I was lined up to race Chris round one which would have actually been a good race seeing as how we both had problems with our cars. Next thing I knew Trent pulled off the side, a couple cars raced and I end up lined up with project white round 1 and obviously got killed.
I was just confused as to why the cars weren't raced in the order they were lined up like always.
Not a big deal, like I said I had issues and had no chance of winning anyways.

When there are an odd number of cars in the class, someone is obviously getting a bye in the round. Sometimes racers will wait until the very last minute to come to the staging lanes in hopes of being the last car in line and get the bye for the round. So the track officials will pick a car randomly to pull out of line and give them the bye.
Again, it's not a huge deal. It just confused me.
The ESA was not done bracket style. The first round, the first car in each lane got pulled off to the side for the bye run, the track changes how they decide bye runs all the time so nobody can just get one. After that first round I'm not sure how they did the rest of the rounds.
Also, for reference as I didn't see it mentioned in the jabbing back and forth, VWJeff who we had put one of AWD's driveshafts in Friday morning before the event ran I believe 8 passes on it while also helping 9sec9 out at the same time testing the Hoosiers, that one obviously didn't break.
As for the spool, personally, when I first heard of the breakage we all assumed it just snapped the pinion off. NOBODY, not ONCE mentioned a word about the spool, it's obvious that part is not going to break. Al loaded the car up to take it home and then realized it was not the pinion and took it back off the trailer. Watch his video and you can see he had it on the trailer and was going to throw in the towel. Just want to clarify, NOBODY, not once blamed it on the spool, the word "spool, Tom, Indy or 9sec9" wasn't even spoken, we can all see that part is industructable.

For Dave and anyone else interested in more HQ pics that you can get copies and posters of, here's the guy that was taking professional photos at Norwalk:

I think I remember them running low 12's ... the SRT10 being slightly faster than the convertible of course.

LOL, thanks Shawna. No hate here. I was just noticing that he was the most outwardly modded and thought it would be funny if he ran some insane times. 12.5 is VERY respectable.

Have your rice and race it too!!
