17th Annual DSM/EVO Shootout **MEGA MERGE THREAD**
I had an awesome time!! i drove my 99 GSX on E85 the whole way, no intercooler, water injection, a/c on... I tell you I loved my car before, but after that trip I love it even more! Solid as a rock the entire trip... no matter how fast I had to go to keep up with Scott in his bad-*** truck! (the one hauling the trailer with the 3 chicks in bikini's on the back!)
I was awake for 38 hours straight, no sleep friday night, and Cory didn't sleep either! So I apologize if I was anti-social at Buschur's shop I know I met a few people and was stumbling on words! But it was well worth it!
James brought his evo (with the STM forward-facing turbo kit) and proved it can be done with the small radiator! And from what I was told, his car was like a brick **** house on the expressway!
Austin brought his stealth, recently tuned on AEM, and he broke the stock turbo record at the shootout (without nitrous or race gas) and he plans on getting it going to an 11.8 to completely have the record regardless of gas or nitrous!
Brandon brought his STi and I'll have all you hardcore DSMers know his STi was FIRST in line at the track! We were all up at the butt-crack of dawn and STM was first to the track!
Well, enough talk, thanks everyone who helped us out! And it was a pleasure to officially meet you David, you have the most FIRM handshake I have ever shook.

Now onto the 200+ pics I have! ENJOY!!

I tried to get as many cars as I could... until I ran out of space on my camera!!

Seriously
I have had two years of nightmares with broken driveline parts becuase I don't know anything about suspension - I have asked for help from many and gotten zero assistance
Thanks from the botttom of my heart for helping me out with the AWD Spec D2 suspension as that is what made the difference for me and turned my car into a near bracket type machine this weekend - it really was a perfectly dialied in suspension right out of the box.
Also - I have been running the very same Buschur short block since last July all through the Pinks All out event - two summer slams - last years and this years DSM Shootout and the fall nationals at Etown - this has been the best motor and most reliable ever - thanks to my sponsor and friend Master David Bushcur for making the best motors in the business

AL I missed this post earlier i guess.. You are very welcome and you know AWD Motorsports supports every racer in the Buschur Family.. Im glad it all worked out for you.. We know if you ever had a part we needed you would do the same for us.. Thanks for the support.. Was nice to see you wearing the AWD Motorsports plus size Tshirt on sunday!!!

BTW.. I agree 100% that Buschur does have the Best Motors in the Business.. When you are at our level **** happens.. Those who just cry about failures are not racers.. Those who work towards a resolution for a problem are who will be fastest at the end of the day!! I am proud as well to be part of the Buschur Racing team!!!

Trust me.. I would dance too if I took out curt Brown.. That is no easy feat.. It just wasnt his day.. You did good under pressure AL i have to say.. The lights you cut on the protree heads up 3x in a row cannot be disputed.. Youve had some bad luck over the last couple years but YOUR BACK NOW!!!!
Mike

A powerful Evo without a good suspension is a nightmare as you will continually break parts.
It was a huge leap of faith to remove my $2600 Tien Super Spec coil over suspension and replace it with the budget priced AWD D2 set up - but let me tell you it was the best decision I have made with my car in a long time.
Back in the day I was always winning or comming to the final in a lot of Evo events and I was the man to beat. In 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006, I was in the final or won the Evo class at both the Ohio and New Jersey events. I have a basement filled with trophies and magazine features to show for my effort and skill as a driver.
After I started to try and chase the power wars and went to the GT42R and 1,000 whp back in 2007 that is when my nighmare started with one problem after the other and I ran into a lot of drivetrain issues.
Bottom line is that a lot of sponsors who I promoted the **** out of in all my magazine articles and internet posting jumped ship and refused to lend me any help once I started to have problems. I learned that in this business you get used and abused like a $10 hoe. Taking your car to shows in Atlanta and Las Vegas and attending drag events all over the east coast is soon forgot and the same people who would offer you the world to get the sticker on the car when your on the cover of a magzine cant seem to return your calls a few years later.
My point is that while a lot of people counted me out, I kept on working and fighting with the limited resources available to me and doing my best to keep at it to represent the few sponsors I have left who actually help me.
Buschur
AWD
Super Tech Valves
Drive Shaft Shop
Headway Performance
GSC cams
P & L in Chicago
Cosworth
Shep Trans
Forced Performance
These are the few who could be counted on to help me out when I needed some help with some form of racers discount or aide to get me through the tough period.
A lot of fellow shops and tuners in my area who never even race have been having a field day with making fun of my mishaps and problems along the way. Every time my car would break a rear diff or have any problem they would talk a lot of trash in my area calling me a buffon and trying to make it look as if I have no skill, etc. Meanwhile they never even had a fast car and have no clue what is involved.
Finally with your help Mike, I was able to remind people once again of what I can do behind the wheel of an Evo and not to count me out when it comes to racing.
I personally wrenched, tested, tuned and drove the car with the help of my 11 year old Dyno Flash fan and pit cheif Eddie.
Real competition and real racing is a lot harder than bench racing and control "x" dyno manipulation.
Again, to all my friends at AWD Motorsports, I can not thank you enough for aiding me with the Suspension and driveshaft. Without your help I would still be breaking parts at the line.
Also, I would be remiss without thanking our master Ferrari Machanic George P at Dyno Flash / ICS for his master wheel alignment and suspension adjustment and also Lego for all his assistance and support in getting the car ready and encouraging me to stick with the project.

Great pictures Shawna, sorry if I shook your hand to hard, didn't mean too. I must have just been excited to meet you! haha
Al, you are hurting my feelings with this suspension stuff. While I didn't sell you the solution I did offer my input, I don't want credit for any input but hell I didn't hang you out to dry! I told you what we were doing and trying and what we had to offer atleast.
For everyone else. This video was posted on the Buschur Racing Forums. This video is what the event is about to many-many people. If you don't like drinking or profanity you might want to skip it but this video, when I watched it, hit home with the friends that are made, the crazy times that are had for 3 nights at the local hotels, the track and most importantly it shows that myself, Al and Mike aren't just blowing off at the mouth about how the event is important to the community. You will see for yourself the passion these guys have for the shootout. Personally, I found it to be one of the best shootout videos I have seen because of the people in it and how much they just love being at the event.
Every year, when the rush is over and I get to take a deep breath, I am always sad that many of my friends have returned to their homes far from here and I won't get to see them for another year...........to those of you that make me feel that way, thank you.

My first of many videos

I am still demanding my refund as the event was way too crowded and I was unable to relax as much in the pits - I prefer a more empty race LOL

Didn't 9sec9 show up at this event to run? Sorry but I lose track of names without meeting you guys in person and seeing your cars. I thought he was going to be at your event to test the new Hoosier DR.
He was there testing the tires.
Al was running our diff eliminator spool in this semi-finals video. Good thing it was in there but not too sure why it hasn't been mentioned. The new aluminum driveshaft broke earlier and the diff got the blame until they soon found out the spool was perfect and the driveshaft was in pieces.
