17th Annual DSM/EVO Shootout **MEGA MERGE THREAD**
In the meantime until Mr. Buschur can post up the race results, here is a list on the Summit site:

Being the sportsman that I am I have to say 1,000% percent that I did not win the final pass and that the orange Conquest was the car to pass by me around half track and who got the win light - I am positively certain on that.
Still - to me being the #15 qualifier and making it to the final with a combination of having a reliable / consistent and easy to drive Evo was all the success I could handle. I am really satisfied and happy with my performance and I have to say that my driving and racing skills have come a long way in the 7 years since August of 2003 when I first came with my Evo to the shootout.
Beating the living legend of DSM Curt Brown who had a 3 - 4 /10ths faster 2nd gen DSM in the second round of eliminations (quarter finals) was certainly the highlight of my day. I give Curt all the props as being perhaps the most experienced and accomplished DSM drag racer of all time. It was certainly some tough competition.
The names of the people who attended the event are a who's who of the top drivers in DSM drag racing - from Shep to Curt Brown, to Bill Lowe and 9 sec 9 - all the top drivers were at this event - that is what makes it such a great experience and why the real true die hard racers like myself will always make sure to make it to Ohio as that is where the real competition goes down.
Al
What a great event it was, I can't wait to see some more pictures since I couldn't make it.
Everyone made it home around 5:30 and we are here again cranking away!
Hope everyone had a great time!

Had a great time at the event. Didn't make it till late in the afternoon on Saturday. missed most of the dyno sessions but still got to see most of the cars. The racing on Sunday was awesome. Sure the downtime sucked, but it's to be expected. These things aren't running powerglides!
I haven't been to the event in several years.... when there were only 30 or so cars, so obviously I was a little baffled at how many showed up. It looked like a DAMN good turn out, and that is coming from someone who had know idea what to expect. Hopefully next year I can run my car.

Another great DSM Shootout. I missed it last year but I made sure this year I would be there. Went out Sat & Sun, there was tons of cars and people. I had a great time, weather was super HOT. To the guy that was complaining about the event wasn't big, (AlphaMale) I think you forgot your glasses at home or something... It takes a lot of effort to put together such an event so , Thank you, David Buschur and all the people that made this another great shootout.
Truly.... a great event! Bottom line. GREAT turnout.
A lot of hardwork goes into the event every year from people in the Wakeman community to all of us here at the shop to try to make it run as smoothly as possible. Then on Sunday the Summit Racing Motorsports Park crew is the best in the business. No doubt about it. A big thanks goes to the Bader Family and the entire group of quality professional track officials they bust their butt to make our event a success.
The shootout is more fun every year for me honestly because from the day after it ends I talk to more new people via PM, phone or email and when the event comes around next year I get the chance to put faces with the names.
As always it was great to see and spend time with my friends I see once maybe twice a year. Caleb Fetter, Chad Block, Curt Brown, Yusuf Begic, Mike Reichen, Dave Bruzewski, Mike from AWD and his crew, Big Al, Emery & Shawna from STM and their crew, Leon Reitman, Bruce Kwartler, Darryl Hudson just to name a few. Its always a great time to see old friends and meet new.
My highlight of the shootout weekend was seeing my good friend and customer Matt Smith from Winston-Salem North Carolina click off his first 9 second pass personally in his Evo that he's been trying to get for awhile now. Matt is one of the most stand up guys I have ever met in life or racing. Always a good attitude, always willing to help someone out with no questions asked and is a good sportsman & fellow racer. He's had some bad luck in the past and he never once gave up. Congrats Matt! You EARNED it buddy!
Im also very glad that big Keith was Ok. I spend some time every year talking to Keith after meeting him a few years ago here. One of the nicest guys you could spend time talking to. He got here late on Saturday afternoon and told me that he had some bad luck on the way here but as he told me "By the grace of god I'm here man and I couldnt be happier. Now I want to shower, eat and take it all in!". Im glad god was looking down on him yesterday afternoon as well. Cars can be replaced. Guys like Keith can not.
From all of us here at Buschur Racing thank you for your support of Buschur Racing and THE Largest Mitsubishi event/race on the planet! You all make the event what it was and what it will be! Thank you!
See you all next year!
Most definitely there are more pictures coming. I spent the entire weekend taking photographs for myself/Buschur Racing and Dsport Magazine. I need to go through the 500+ I took, do some editing and then I will post them. I hope to have them up by days end.
Im going to start a new thread and hopefully it doesnt get merged like the one I started Saturday. If it does you will be able to find them on the Buschur Racing forums where I do the moderation.

Glad you like it Al. I have raced with jarrod and justin for years now here at our local track.
They did one hell of a job building that car. Non-shop sponsored(I believe).. Just two brothers and their love of the 4g63.
If you are interested Al - I can email you the original photo - Uncompressed. But Its a 10.1 Meg file.
Goes for anyone wanting any originals.

I had a great time. It was my first year at the shootout and had a hell of a time. Even better was unexpectedly placing third in the evo eliminator shootout! Thanks to all the sponsors and Buschur for putting on a great event!
Btw, does anyone know where you can see those professional pictures from those photographers walking around? I want to see if I can find a picture of my car at the track or on Saturday.

It was awesome! Thanks Buschur, and community for such a great event!!! it was huge! Im pretty sure it was bigger than last year! well organized as usuall!!!
I know Yusuf was very sorry for leaving oil on the track after his rear end went kaboom!, when he thought it was another Tcase, also glad Keith is ok the guy from red dsm who crashed.
I can complain only about one thing! SUN! Im burned and i look like red wheels on my RS. I hope next year to run my car.
Sekula: you did good! also it sucks about Chris evo.
It was amazing to see my buddies red RS with bone stock motor on 35R that ran 11.4's, it was his first time ever on the track.

It was the all black wingless evo 8. I had it sitting on the side of the road by the shop next to my buddy's graphite gray ams evo 9. It also said "werks" on the intercooler. Let me know if you have any pics from saturday or sunday, I'd appreciate it!
Unreal time once again! I will never miss this race as long as it exists. Very happy to have all of our friends around and shoot the **** a little...and maybe a few beers
ok, a lot!
My friends were doubtful when they came because they have never been to this race and have only heard about it. All I can say is that they will most likely be bringing their friends next year. They mentioned several times how nice people were and what a great job in planning this event was. Kudos to the Buschur crew! Sucks I didn't get to race this year but there is always next year. Congrats to Matt on his 9 sec pass! I can't wait for next year! Thank you for everything Buschur, Ron S, AWD, Al, etc.. for putting on the best Mitsu event period!
