I went to e-town this year only because we were flat broke and its only 4 hours and was one nights stay compared to 12 hours and a 3 night stay as usual for the shootout. the DSM Shootout is a better event hands down IMO. Buschurs may not be perfect but it has merit and will only get larger and better with time, as it always does.
Why are implying i am comparing the two events??? I don't care which is "better". They're both enthusiast events.

This was a great time and I had fun untill I tried to run and found out that I only had 12-14 psi because between the hotel on friday and the dyno on saturday I lost major power and boost from some stupid t-body shaft seals going bad
15.00 worth of seals, Wtf?? They seemingly just went bad in just a couple of days.

Oh well, I still had a good time considering the problems and the extreme sunburn

Having been into DSM's for over ten years and going to the shoot out many times over those years, i know what to expect when a ton of mitsu powered cars get together, however there was a lot of fluid spilled on the track this year and a LOT of down time, not to mention the fellow who apparently flipped his car (i hope he's okay) that took up a big part of the day.

As far as knowing the background about the etown thing; i dont think i care to know anymore than i already do, what i do know is what i saw at shootout today and it was utterly tasteless from a professional stand point. I and many other enthusiasts were offended.

I was in and out of the shade most of the day, are you saying there was some secret shade spot that large numbers of people were hiding in? again, i see no reason for you to attack my disappointment over today.

I don't really see where any of those problems were the fault of the promoter.

Man I love this photo - This is my 3rd year trying to play with the "big boys" in the Q16 and finally I had a machine under me to take me to the final round

[IMG][/IMG]

That was the final of Q16 and I gave it my all - cutting a .106 r/t and 1.4 60' - frankly its amazing to me to see my portly Evo out in front of that RWD conquest which was pulling the front tires off the ground!

Needless to say to find myself out driving guys like Curt Brown and the others I had to face to reach the finals was a once in a lifetime experience and surely made this DSM Shootout the most memorable for me in the 7 years I have been attending

Its once thing to win by being the fastest as I used to be in the first 4 years of the Evo Eliminator but its all together to reach the finals by having a very reliable and consistent machine and driving it well - that takes a lot of trial and effort and practice.

Let me take this opportunity to say thanks to the following sponsors and supporters for their kind assistance and help- without which I could have never made it this far

Special thanks to Mike @ AWD and team for the amazing suspension which turned around my program and for sharing tons of valuable data and info. In my final 3 passes of elimination rounds I ran 3 1.40 60's and ran 9.75 ; 9.75 and 9.78 - almost a bracket car! Suspension is everything in having a consistent and reliable race Evo.

Buschur Racing - motor, fmic, too many parts to list !

Shep Trans

Drive shaft shop - rear half shafts

Headway Performance - head

Forced Performance HTA88 turbo

Shearer Fabrication - header

Thanks to Emery @ Street Tuned for lending me the parts I needed to repair my car and get back out for the 3rd round of qualifications - thanks so much

Also - big thanks to Eddie my young pit crew / assistant who always makes it out to the DSM event to help me

Thanks also to Lego at ICS for his assistance in helping me prepare the car

It was great to be at the event this weekend in Ohio. Those who sought to undermine and harm the event surely failed as it was not only the biggest of the 7 DSM Shootout events I have attended but it was also the best with the best vibe and feeling. Without any doubt a day I will never forget.

i've been going to shoot out for years and this was the first time i left before it was even over. I couldnt take it anymore.

so many cars broke on the line, or at best, 60 feet out. I think this will be the last shoot out for me, aside from the fact that it seemed like a low turn out, despite the claims ive heard, it honestly looked like a ghost town in the bleachers and down in the parking lot.

Most of the day was spent watching the track get cleaned. I'm also finding the '**** on the showdown @ e-town' t-shirts rather offensive and low brow. I think it's time, for me at least, to put Buschur's legacy in the past. Im not trying to open a can of worms, I used to love going to the shoot out, but for me to leave before it even ended was rather saddening and took quite a bit, considering i made a 4 hour drive just to be there.
Perhaps the fact that you drive a IS-300 could have contributed to your lack of interest ?

I have been to a lot of drag racing events and the amount of break downs and time to clean them up was typical

Frankly, the fact that the event even was completed was amazing considering the fact that the major hold up was a guy who drove off the end of the track at 100 mphs and barrel rolled his car over 3 times and needed to be transported to the hospital - "thank god he appeared to be fine and actually came back to watch the end of the race"

Also, I really liked the T-shirts and I wish only that they came in LONG so I could have worn one also

Finally - to my good friend David Buschur for working so hard to keep the tradition of the DSM Shootout alive

Trust me in past years I have seen first hand all the complaints, BS and crap he has to put up with from all sorts of miserable and nasty people who are upset. Running a huge event like the DSM Shootout is not easy. Especially in past years when so many morons would get arrested and tear up the town the night before the event and David was the one who had to answer to the Police Chief after the race.

To me it seemed that this year was the best behaved and the most friendly and cooperative spirt of any year I attended

The group bon fire and meet at Buschur Racing was a nice new touch which was great

also - to David for helping me out with giving my car the final tune up on the dyno during the dyno day on Saturday - I had changed my head and turbo back housing in the few days before I left and had no time or opportunity to street tune the car - the Buschur Mustang dyno is the only dyno I have ever used which is dead spot on to the track and the tune which was made in 5 pulls on the Buschur dyno was the one which powered me through all the way to the final without any changes

Al

Buschur, Sounds like this shootout was a great success with everyone but one having a great time. Wish i could have went and seen this or even tried to compeate. But work calls and i cant really leave a deployment for it or even like 4 days earlier than todays fly out home. Any chance you can post the winners of each bracket and the times they ran?

Once again congrats on such a great event

Chris

Yes, I am going to post the full winners list for each class and a huge write up on it all. I just need the final numbers from the race track and such. It usually gets done in a day or two after I meet with them.

Alpha Male, I am simply going to say I am not being combative at all, far from it. What I read from your post in here was nothing but hate from you. I didn't have a single person come up to me this year and NOT say, "Holy crap, I can't believe it's bigger than last year." So to come here and have you say it, then complain about the break downs and say you simply left early, shows nothing but simple hate. That is why I addressed what you said. You are entitled to your opinion but your opinion makes me doubt your motive as it's the only negative one I heard all weekend.

I wasn't implying that you were comparing THOSE two, I was making a point that ALL events have the issues you saw yesterday in 2 totally seperate parts of the country from the weather. I just made a personal comparison between the turnout of both events just to remind you that if you don't like Dave's event....good luck finding other DSM/Evo events that are going to be any better...that was all. Definitely going to Ohio next year, sorry i couldn't support your event htis year Dave....I'll make it up to you! haha

sounds like an excellent event to me, breaking is part of racing, if you don't get that, you need to find a new sport.

nice job out there Al, it wasn't too long ago that you were all over the track on a bigger turbo and very inconsistent, sounds like things are coming together for you.

David I couldn't make it out there this year, I was hoping to pull everything together at the last minute. I did manage to get the fresh tilton clutch installed and replaced my fmic that had a major hole in it, but my alternator died at the very last minute leaving me no chance of getting another on in time. I was planning on driving up there, racing and driving it home!

Thanks for continuing to put on the event, I imagine its hard to enjoy it as much as everyone else with all of your responsibilities, but you keep doing it anyway. I'll be there next time!

In the meantime until Mr. Buschur can post up the race results, here is a list on the Summit site:
