16x8 = usually means more weight excluding the FD wheels. For drag racing, I don't see any advantage for an 8" wide wheel.
They only make that size in 4x100 BP and it would stick out 18mm more which is too much for those tires.

I've talked to many sport compact people and they say to try to run the rim the same width as the tire. This maximizes the contact patch. I saw this on a friends FWD car, he was running a 15x7 on a 26x8" slick and after a pass, the contact patch was only about 6" across the slick, leaving an inch on each side untouched.

Oops, sorry I thought I saw a 5x114.3.

If you can find a super light (less than 15lbs) 8" wheel that will fit without spacers let me know and I will switch.
Thanks to whoever did the footwork on the rpf1 +25 fitting without spacers! I have a set of rx7 wheels and spacers on the front that I was going to run but I have small brakes now and cant wait to ditch the spacers!

I never said they didn't make the 16x8 5x114. I was only referring to the 16x8 with +20 offset. I bet you had the +40 or +48 wheels.
Sorry i can't remember his exact set-up
Thanks Pat! I just found a pic, It doesn't say what offset but the +25 should work perfectly. I was just about to cut the studs out of my spacers but if I can sell the rx7 wheels and spacers and drop a few lbs its a minor expense to buy some rpf1s

Those looks great! Yep, +25 should be exactly where the stock Evo wheels are on the outside. You can also see that the hub area goes deep providing more room for brakes. Too bad they hit the stock Brembos on the very top.
I noticed the RPF1 also comes with the alum air stem which should meet NHRA rules. When you get the +25 wheels, can you weigh one and let us know. I think the deeper hubs like the +25 have a tad more material in the center.

If the patch is too narrow then the air pressure is to too much. Hoosier suggest 6"-8" width so 7" is in the proper range plus the QTP is pretty square. I will double check though after I get them mounted.

I have a set of motorcycle slicks and rims that I have never used, but honestly I'm kind of weary of them. I'd like to get a 16" rim with a meatier tire.

Same here but I sold them last winter. I never used the moto slicks since I was concerned going over 140mph on them. For a thin tire, they hook great but have a very thin sidewall and aren't rated for the Evo's weight. It took about 100 lbs of air pressure to get them to pop that last bead. I always wondered if that hurts the integrity of the tire. I did like 13lb moto tire weight compared to my QTP's which are 16lbs.

I think I have the worst luck...
16x7 +40 Rota Slilpstreams HIT with a 20mm spacer, front of caliper close to where the Brembo logo is. 21mm or 22mm would be required despite what was posted in the original Rota thread by someone else.
Also my studs are longer than 20mm and hit the Rota wheel with the bolt on spacers. Pass through spacers with the ARP 3" studs would be a better choice. Or you could grind down the studs to 20mm length.

BTW- Out of the box, the wheels weigh 13.75lbs each.
Edit: Just ordered 22mm wheel spacers on ebay for $75. These should work for the Slipstream and FD wheels.

Got my longer ARP studs and 22mm spacers. Slipstreams now fit nicely on the front and have close to 2mm of space between the wheel and caliper. Stick on wheel weights need to be very close to the spokes otherwise they will hit the caliper.
After I took out the studs from the bolt on spacers and made them pass through, they only weigh 1.25 lbs.
Much happier with these compared to the FD wheels. They seem to fit better and are lighter.
I'll try to take some pics after the rears are finished.
