PM me if you want to talk details on the oil pickup setup to hopefully help oiling issues. The OEM oil system is a bit of a train wreck and there is a lot of room for improvement.

Congrats on the great runs, I'm sure you'll be cracking out some 8.7's in no time!

Ive thrown that rod away, but after looking at that picture carfully you are diffenatly right. I putting my motor together right now so I would diffenatly like to talk details, and improve the OEM oiling system.

On a side note, Devin, have you thought about doing electronic boost control to control the traction? Run lower boost level's in 1st gear to get it to hook better then ramp boost in 2nd/3rd/4th? I think it would really work in your favor. Work wonders in my talon and was one of the only reasons it went 8.66 @165mph. Had I not had the boost control setup via vehicle speed, I would have never hooked up.
The race was won on the tree for sure! The C-Dub 1G was .003 away from redlighting, he almost cut a perfect light! I dont care if your John Force, thats hard to beat. I was .10x away from a perfect light, not horrible but not what I needed. I could have won the race with a better light, I could have won if the car hooked better, but it didnt. He won, no excuses.

I going to make some changes and the car will be back out next weekend. Im getting rid of the D.O.T. QTP's, and tryin out a full slick.

Yes, I use EBCS alot in my customers cars, and I will be installing one very soon. Ive never had traction issues like this before, but I am makin more power then I ever have.

8.66 @ 165mph? Im confused and must not be up to speed, Jake? Sean?

Devin

Jake

I did 8.66 @165mph back in 08 with my talon. Ran on wastegate through 1st gear (22lbs) then ramped hard in 2nd to 45lbs and 45-46lbs through out 3rd and 4th. My 60ft's were in the mid to low 1.4's but my 330ft.s were 3.6-3.7's. We really focused on that 330ft. and it really paid off in the end. The dogbox you have is pretty tricky to launch, when I put mine in the talon we had traction issues as well, that was until I put the boost control on it and did it by vehicle speed via AEM EMS. Worked like a champ. You have a 2g so I assume your still using the electronic speed sensor, witch is exactly what you wanna use since it has a cleaner res in order to be precise on the boost via vehicle speed.

I've been following your progress devin and absolutely love your car, keep up the great work and can't wait to see what you figure out for traction. I know it can be done on those Hoosiers man! I've done it on hoosiers

Not to steer the thread too far off topic, but let me know if you're completely losing the QTPs or just switching out for the 2g and hanging onto them for the Evo. I'd like to make a few passes with them before the season is out and maybe snag a 12.5x... I really need to stop by the shop soon

F**K ya, Evil Eagle! I followed that car and absoloutly loved that beast! Right now my boost is low 30's in first, high 30's in second and full boost (42psi) in 3rd and 4th. It has worked great, I was cutting 1.3 60fts at the track by me 1 week before shootout, but at shootout it was not holding. It is diffenatly possible on the QTP's, I agree.

I can take around 7 lbs of rotating weight off the car by going to a 15" wheel instead of the 16" Ive been using. I dont want to buy a tire that is just ok for now, I want to get something that will work for the next couple years, that why im leaning towards a full slick.

Wow nice times and nice car! Do you have the specs listed somewhere or a build thread? Is this the fastest 2G right now? Using stock trans and diff?

Its whoever gets to the finish line first not whoever has the best time.

Specs are on the first page of the post, if you have anyother questions let me know.

Not to sure, I know the fastest 2g is Marco from Magnus and he has had that recond for years. "Gas stroker" is still faster then me I beleive he has gone 8.86.

So I think im #3 on the list. I would love to go 8.60's which I beleive to be possible on my current setup.

The motor is done and the car is ready to go back to the track. This weekend some customers need my help so I will not have time for my car. I will be bringing the car out during the week or next weekend, Ill keep you guys updated and let you know how it goes.

Devin

Update:
We took the Red Demon out on Thursday night to our local track and got 3 opportunities to make a pass.

On the new Hoosier slicks, I’m no longer spinning like I did at the shootout. I changed from the 26x9.5x16 QTP to a 26x8x15 full slick. They measure the width of the QTP's differently than the full slick, so no I did not go to a narrower tire. They ended up being the same width. I bogged the first two launches on the new tires. After adjusting the launch control, I got the car to launch fairly nicely on the 3rd pass.

That night I went 8.84 @ 165 mph! Can’t wait to bring it out again, as there is more left in the Demon for sure. I’ll post the video of the 8.84 pass when I get a chance.

Devin

Congrats on that 8.8@166 pass u made, love the red machine. I looked at the first post with the specs, it says 3586 but ur sig says 3794. Which turbo is on the car now? and if its the 3794 then whats the comparison between the 2 turbos on your setup
