9.42 @ 151.07 MPH - First Time Out for 2011
Well guys I finally was able to take my EVO out to the track. It has been a long and pain in the *** road so far this year. I wasn't going to run the car until the Shootout but said the hell with it and took it anyway. I am kinda glad I did. I was able to get some well needed seat time as I was starting to get a little rusty.
I only made 4 passes tonight. Since this is still a street car I decided to drive the car to and from the track. It is about 80 miles round trip to and from the track. Once we got to the track I pulled the street tires off and threw on my Hoosier QTP's. I usually drive with them but wanted to make sure myself and the car would be safe while driving since it was a little bit longer of a drive. And the roads aren't the greatest for the QTP's.
All passes were made with the full interior, full exhaust, wipers, mirrors, etc..The only thing I did was change tires out.
1st pass of the night was a 9.54 @ 152.09 mph. I was pretty happy considering I haven't been able to run the car for quite some time. This was also a new personal best for me. The sixty on this pass was a 1.49.
2nd pass was the best pass of the evening. 9.42 @ 151.07 mph with a 1.46 sixty. My sixty improved a little bit as I was able to start dialing in the 2 step a little better.
Looking at the log from the first two runs made me pretty happy. Air/Fuels and timing are VERY conservative right now. Boost hit 40 psi for a quick second while in 4th gear. And if you have watched my other videos in the past you know I am not a slow driver. I was taking it pretty easy tonight. I leave the gear banging for another night.
3rd pass I nailed a 1.44 sixty but was locked out of 4th gear. This would have easily been a 9.3xx pass by looking at the timeslip.
4th pass I spun very very hard as there wasn't much heat left in the track. Had 4th gear issues again. I decided to call it a night after two bad passes.
With the Shootout right around the corner I am hoping to get the lockout issues handled asap. Looks like i'll be putting in some long hours to get her all fixed up.
I am rather impressed with the QTP's. I have a set of Hoosier drag slicks but am saving those for the end of the season once we get that nice Ohio weather. I have no doubt that with a little David Buschur tuning magic while at the track that the car will go 9.0 - 9.1's on the QTP's. And hopefully that 8 second pass I am after this season on the slicks.
