David, one small suggestion, it would be nice to see the car types parked by sections. i.e Evo x section one , Evo 9 Section 2 and so on. SoCal Evo has an event that do this and it looks pretty amazing to see the cars sorted out. Just a thought of course.

I don't know if you've been to the event but it's HUGE. Trying to separate the cars by make at a race event would be pointless. Many racers want to park together and have different cars. I'd never try to enforce something like that. At a car show like the Mod Day event, that's a different story and would be cool.

Hey Dave, just wondering if you HAVE to run a MAF for the stock appearing class. I'll probably be competing with a true bone stock turbo anyway, so just wondering if I have to be further restricted by a stock MAF as well. It's already going to be hard enough considering there is no stock turbo class anymore.

I'd recommend reading the rules on page 1.

What are you talking about Dave, this is the only event i'm looking forward to attend every year... Been attending this event for the last 5 years or so.
I won 2nd place on the time attack street class last year. See you in August

OK, awesome, I never know who's been here and who hasn't. The screen names throw me off even further.

David,

I'm trying so hard to figure out the classing i've even printed the rules out and highlighted the stuff that applies to me. Appreciate some help, this will be my first shootout.

For an Evo, competing in Max Effort, it states "Read the classes listed below and pick the class your car fits into". There appears to be ESA and EE. I can't fit into ESA simply due to my Magnus intake manifold, so that leaves EE, correct?

I see B1, B2, and q16. B12 is for 13.0+ cars, so n/a. Then B1 and Q16, but i don't see anything in the rules different between EE and those two. So are are they purely brackets within ESA and EE to break them down furthur?

Long story short, I am planning Max Effort, and have a ESA car other than the intake manifold. I'm thinking that's a "ME/EVO" written on the car, and it's in the EE class?

Sorry but i seem to be having a tough time adjusting from a typical SCCA AutoX rulebook type of writing...

thanks

You read too far:

"MAX EFFORT-Sponsored by ECMTuning
-The Max Effort class combines autocrossing and drag racing. The autocross and drags are held on Saturday for Max Effort.
-You will need to read the classes listed below and pick the class your car fits into.
-Your best 1/4 mile ET will be combined with your best autocross time at the end of the day for a total time which will place you and determine the winner in each class.
-Any street tire can be used BUT the tire you choose must be used for both the autocross and drag racing portions.
-Owner of the car must drive the car in both events, NO other drivers permitted.
-All DSM's, Ralliarts or other Mitsubishi powered shootout legal vehicles will compete in DSM.
-All EVO's will compete in EVO.
-Put your class and last three digits from your tech card on your windshield and both sides of the side windows. (ME/DSM or ME/EVO)
-Street tires ONLY, NO race tires or tires with tread wear under 140! ANY DOT 140+ tread wear rating tire OK.
-Any tires that do NOT have a visible tread wear rating or DOT stamp on them will be considered illegal.
-You will get 3 drag passes to post your best 1/4 mile ET to then be added to your best autocross time for scoring.
-MAX EFFORT will have three drag runs at 4:30 pm, 5:30 pm and 6:30 pm. These are mandatory at those times for scoring!"

The DRAG classes have NOTHING to do with the Max Effort Class. So you have an EVO and you have to run on a tire that is 140+ tread wear. You are in ME/EVO.

Last year we had race tire classes for DSM and EVO but not a single competitor showed up on a race tire, we dropped that class. Now EVERYONE has to run on a street tire with a tread wear of 140+ and there is just the DSM class and EVO class.

got it, thanks David.

Funny you mention the race tires... I was very close to ordering a new set of wheels and race tires to use at the shootout. Common sense struck me and i decided to come back to this thread i hadn't seen in a while and re-read the rules. So glad i didn't pull the trigger on Hoosier A6's.

Thanks again, can't wait for the shootout.

No slicks allowed in that class.

Just a FYI u do know a 10.75 won the stock appearing class last year in the ESA class. Tree em and run what u have in the past and or a little faster and u can win the class.
