"Junk Box" Evo @ 2012 Shootout!!

I didnt want this weekend to end. This was my 3rd year in a row going to the Shootout and it was by far the most people ive seen. Having a 3 day event was a great idea and it was a great turnout as always. I would like to thank Boostin Peformance for building and tuning this car for me. Car is running amazing and i appreciate their help and time. Boostin Peformance FTW!! Also would like to thank Dave and everyone at Buschur racing for holding another amazing event. All the vendors who sponsored the classes and all the people that came out and put on a great show for everyone! It was great to put some faces to screen names there and see a lot of amazing cars. I am sorry to some who i didnt get a chance to say hi to or talk to.

I got into Norwalk on Wednesday night. Stayed at the Best Western again and went to Cedar point all day Thursday. I was at the Buschur Dyno day pretty much all day Friday and couldnt have asked for better weather all weekend and turn out. We ate at Casa Fiesta 4 days straight I am not going to eat mexican for awhile lol.

Now onto some racing!! Saturday we got to the track around 1:30PM. I planned on making a couple test and tuned passes and one qualifying run. I made a couple test passes and made my qualifying run. Sunday, was race day. We got to the track pretty early. We were there around 7:45-8:00AM. We wanted to park as close to the stands and up front as possible. Our spot was perfect and close by to everything.

The car ran solid and consistent all weekend. I made a decent amount of passes and the car is running great.

9.3@161
9.3@162
9.3@162
9.2@161
9.1@160
9.0@163

I really wanted to get my new personal best this past weekend but it didnt happen. I normally cut 1.4 60fts but the car was cutting mid to low 1.5s yesterday. On the logs the car was just spinning in 2nd and i had a little bit of bouncing issues. Besides that, the car was very consistent and i was very happy about that. I made it into the Final 4 of the Quick 16 and got a by pass because Kiggly's car had an issue. Devin @ Boostin Performance made the Finals and it was me and him in the Quick 16 Final. The last race i tried to slam 2nd as hard as i could and simply just hit a brick wall in 2nd. I was a little bummed about that but it happens in racing. It was fun and couldnt have asked for a better day.

Overall it was one of the best weekends in my life. I truely had so much fun and it was great to meet and see everyone again. I cant wait till next years shootout. I have some pictures im going to post and videos. The videos will be uploaded in a day or two. Im sure there are more pictures out there from the weekend and ill try to post them all up. Stay tuned for videos to come shortly!

There's your write up! Thanks for sharing! What do you think it will take to get your traps in the 170+ range? Time for serious weight reductions? Congrats on 2nd place!

Thanks Bud! I would say to get close to 170 traps I would need more weight reduction. My car is 350 pounds heavier then other drag Evos out there. It weighs 2650 without me in it. I plan on doing some in the next couple weeks to come. On the 9.0 pass, we turned the boost down 2psi.

My goal was to make a 8 second pass. I already achieved that. Im not going after any world records. I am not a shop so it's very costly as it is and trying to break world records will be tough. I have the Fastest Evo IX right now I believe and I'm not sure what's the current Quickest Evo IX. I am going to make some changes. First changes I think I'm going to make is get small brakes in the rear and get the staging brake. Right now I am launching off stock E-Brake and the car has stock rotors and brembos in the rear. That's the first thing I am going to change I plan to make a few more 8 second passes and I'll be even more happy

My friend and I sat behind your family for most of Sunday, they were going nuts and it was awesome to see such great support. You have a hell of a car and inspired me to send an email over to BP to see what they can do with my DD IX. Nothing major, just get a few things done to it. Well done and congrats on making the finals!

Thanks Man, I appreciate the kind words! My family came with this year and we decided to come down a day early and go to Cedar Point. They never been there. They had a great time and really enjoyed watching all the cars and me race Saturday and Sunday. You will not be dissapointed with Boostin. Im glad you sent them and E-mail. They will lead you in the right path for some parts for your car
