21st ANNUAL DSM/EVO SHOOTOUT
While I am thinking about it, although Shep, Jewer, Luke, AMS, Alex@Dogbox etc. put on a hellava show, clearly the highlight of the day was the Diesel Van vs the civic.
That was ****ing AWESOME!!!
That was ****ing AWESOME!!!
That was certainly hilarious to watch lmao. I had a blast as usual and can't wait till next year!
The best part of that race was when the kid stuck his arm out of the window of the van haha.
I thought it was ironic that the gtrs couldnt seem to make very many clean passes. Well, except Shep.
What was the deal with Buschurs 1g? I was hoping to see it run, did it? Car was clean though for sure.
Had a blast like always, even without my car(due to trailer issues). This was my first year going down to the econolodge and I had a blast. Nothing too crazy went down. Cant wait till next year, and I will make sure the car is prepped for the shootout!

I think it was a white 2g that blew something (assuming head gasket/coolant) and spewed it all over the last 400 feet of the summit lane...that sucked...it was hot on sunday...
I'm pretty sure...I was the only non-evo lancer that even ran in any event...I had a lot of problems with my launch RPM on that sticky of a track, but I don't think i came in last place either...got my personal best of 13.8 (down from 16.2 stock) in the B2 qualifier...when I was in the staging lanes the old guy punching my tech card told me to go in the evo lane...then Buschur looked at my car with "WTF is that thing?" expression on his face, and told me to move over to the DSM lanes...classic, had a ****ing blast, thanks Dave!
I think that race got more applause than shep's 8.2...we were all howling up under the Canadian tent
someone has to have that on video...

I was there spectating in the parking lot till 11:30. The last I saw was that he lowered the engine and tranny into the car.
I had a blast. Felt like the odd man out being the only X racing in the event but still fun none the less. As soon as I touched down in Ohio we found out my driver side rear control arm was bent to **** and had the tire toe out of wack. I tried to run it anyway since I traveled to far to not race but I couldn't E.T worth a damn. Wheel was fighting the car past the 1/8 every time. Hopefully next year I don't have any car gremlins haunting me.
what did you run at the event?......are you from long island
Here are the official results for the event:
What a GREAT weekend!! Weather was fantastic, people were awesome and the event was mind blowing. I only wish I had more time to actually enjoy the event itself. I didn't even get to walk around the track or the shop either day this year. It's just too busy.
I have all the race results for all the classes finished. We gave out 45 trophies total this year, which were all custom built from DSM/EVO pistons here at the shop this year and gave out a total of $10,000 in cash prize winnings this year. Be sure to thank the sponsors of the classes below because without them there would be no cash prizes. Support them with sales and just a note to thank them for supporting you guys. I'll post up the official people and car count next week when I get it but for now here is the event winners:

Comments for other stuff.
The Bad Bish did run. We put some street miles on it first, drove it to the track on Star Specs, competed. I then competed in Max Effort EVO and had the 4th quickest Autocross time. I heard a familiar noise and new something was going to break so I only made 3 runs in the autocross. I made on drag pass, ran 10.1 at the lowest boost I can run the car and we had a failure. The damn flexplate bolts failed again. It was still the quickest pass in Max Effort and was enough to get the car and myself the win in Max Effort EVO.
The 1g also ran. We've had a water consumption problem since we first started the engine about a week ago. Couldn't pin it down. So we decided to try and run the car anyway. Kevin Lawson is driving the car and he pulled to the line, the brakes wouldn't hold the car and he left early with no boost. The car had a 1.65 sixty foot, ran 6.2 at 118 mph in the 1/8th and then he shut it down. 10.10 at 109 mph in the 1/4. When he got back to the pits we found water in the crankcase and stopped so we didn't hurt this brand new build.
Update on the damage. The Bad Bish destroyed all four converter bolts, the flex plate, starter plate and the converter itself. It is back together and should be ready to run again tomorrow. We are going to actually weld the converter bolts in this time and when we have to service it cut the welds.
Project 1g, Doug Derby was visiting and wanted to know what was wrong so he pulled the head off for me Monday. We saw nothing wrong. Dropped it at the machine shop and they found a hole under one of the #3 exhaust valves into the water jacket, that explains #3 being dead and the water. It will be welded tomorrow and hope to have it running for Friday and may hit test and tune with it. The car only had 28 psi of boost and we are using a 75 shot of nitrous on the starting line that shuts off at 20 psi of boost or 5,000 rpm whichever comes first and stays off the rest of the run.
My persona GTR with downpipes, midpipes, MAF pipes, filters and a COBB Pro Tune from myself ran 10.8 at 125.9 mph on 93 octane is out of injector, or it would have gone faster.
Nick Andy's GTR we just finished up ran 10.2 at 134 mph on stock turbos and E85 and won GTR Stock Appearing.
Matt Smith who was running our 4 speed clutchless last year went back to a 5 speed for now and ran a bunch of 9's on M&H drag radials at 147 mph and took second in Evo Eliminator.

By far the biggest Shootout I've ever been to judging by the quantity and quality of cars that showed up, and to the amount of sponsors. Got to meet a lot of cool people over the weekend as always! Now the countdown begins until next year!
Question for Dave : Will Godzilla show up again next year = ) ?
