Bad driving? video inside

First track day ever for me...

Car is making 345whp and 340 tq

Best time was 12.7 @ 111

here is the video
I'm going again this friday in hopes of a low 12

My 60 ft times weren't very good.. 2.0 2.1 2.3's

5900 2 step but would bog alot when I just dropped the clutch.

What kind of clutch do you have?
I'd agree I think youre 60' time is whats hurting you.
Not bad though. Stock evo, w/ a pro driver should be in the 12's.

Those are decent times man. The 60fts is whats hurting you the most. The shifts could be a little quicker, but the biggest difference is that 60ft.

For reference, my EVO 9 has full exhaust, intake, lower pipe, Intercooler, E85 and i just went 11.59@116mph with a 1.72 60ft Full weight, full interior etc and everything else stock no porting either. I made 357WHP/360TQ on a Mustang Dyno. Just giving you my times for reference. I would say get that 60ft time down to the 1.8 range and grab the gears a little quicker your car will see mid to low 12s for sure. Good Luck this Friday man!

Yeah dont "drop the clutch" just slip it, it takes a good amount of skill to do it and not smell any clutch, if you smell clutch you dragged it too much. Just practice ALOT but give the clutch a couple minute in between launches to cool down so the feeling remains the same and it doesnt burn out from repeated abuse. Im trying to do what Evosick did but with 50 more mustang whp (400/400) and if I hit 11.5 with that I would be happy considering my Evo has a decent amount of weight off. (3000 flat out of car)

The clutch is a competition segmented ceramic stage 3.5 with a comp flywheel as well.

Power was up to 391whp but I sold a LICP, IC and COP and am running on that same tune... so its not up where it was. (Getting ready for big build) I just want some solid pre build numbers to reference.

The GoPro vid def shows alot more. I think your shifting could be a bit quicker, but like everyone else said he 2.0-2.1 60ft is killing you. On Street tires you should be able to get a 1.7-1.8 all day.

i will admit one of the hardest things to dragging a AWD car is the launch.. a lot of people think its soo easy when its not. your 60 foots will get better as you learn more on how you slip your clutch in different ways. maybe its just me but are your shifting at 6600rpm or so?

listen to evosick and 5leeper they both know there stuff and have awesome cars. i actualy watch 5leepr run a lot at my local track

the 1-2 shift is very slow. That "wasted time" early in the 1/4mile is having a big effect on the ET at the end of the 1/4mile. Concentrate on the launch (obviously), but I think the 1-2 shift should also be top of your list for improvement.

Welcome to drag racing, it's very addicting. Good luck!!
