stock hood is aluminum, weighs about 15-20lbs. stock trunk doesn't weigh much more. In all you'll save about 20lbs with the carbon fiber components.

BTW that 3250lbs my car weighed in at was without the spare tire, jack and tool-kit.

There are numerous things that he did to lighten the car. He said it weighed 2881 or something like that without him.

The trunk and hood is only a 20-30 pound weight reduction.

The owner isn't interested in coming onto the board so I guess I am here to state what happened. He also isn't in any rush to get the slips up here. There where several people at the track with the owner to tune the car and make sure everything went OK. The tuner is also on this board at witnessed the car beat a Pro Stock Car.

The other runs where in the 11's with one being in the low 11's I believe.

I am going to call Alex (the owner) and harrass him to get me the slip along with the video tape so you gusy can see it for yourself.

I doubt it. The RS only shed 146 lbs. and it removed HID's, rear wing, PL, PW, PM, keyless entry, trunk liner, ABS, rear wiper, and a couple other things. There's no way this guy lost 500 lbs with a full interior and A/C. Sorry, but it just doesn't sound feasible at all. BTW......we're all still waiting to see some slips. until then, it's all just talk

10 SECONDS & im free

hmmmm lets see ... no time slips ... no video ... 1 run at 10:60 ... backup run's in the low 11's ... broken transfer case ... 2800 lbs ? ? must be completly gutted .. I think maybe next time when a post like this is made having the documentation might end all the skepticism .. dont you think ? ? 10:60's to low 11's is a very large variance ! !

Just to get our terminology correct, a "Pro Stock Car" as you put it, presently runs in the 6.8 range at a little over 200mph. This is, of course, the NHRA. The IHRA version runs 6.5's at 205-210. There are several other associations that also use this term, but most, if not all, are quite faster than 10 seconds. These are normally big cubed naturally aspirated motors. Not to be ****, but a "Pro Stock Car" is not a good comparison.

RNR, I hope your successful in posting the timeslips and video. It might shed some light.

The times are accurate.

The cars you guys are comparing are RWD which have less drivetrain loss.

It is normal for AWD to run an amazing time with a LOW trap speed.

A lot of the members have never acually seen a AWD car launch. It is like loading a car into a cantapult and throwing it to the 60 foot. Or I guess you can compare this to a RWD with wide slicks. But the evo is doing this on street tires.

When I launch I spin all 4 tires till second gear and I'm going 40 mph while the RWD is still gettin his traction. Keep in mind when I say spin all 4 tires I do not mean total burn out but the tires are taking turns spinning while the car is moving foward.

It's crazy you drop the clutch and your in second gear.

Actually a well setup RWD can pull very good 60' times. And better times on a good tire than a street/stock tired AWD. Where are you getting the notion that AWD are pulling very low ET at low trap speeds? Compared to good RWD setups, AWD drives are trapping higher mph and getting higher ET's. Most of this has to do that with being able to make high RPM horsepower and not low RPM torque like V8's do. There are only a few AWD on slicks that can pull under 1.5sec 60 foots., John Shepherd, Curt Brown, Sean Glazer to name a few.
If you're comparing a stock tired LS1 to a EVO, then yes a well driven and launched EVO VIII can out 60' the LS1, but put the ZO6 on a tire and the game is even'ed up. Again I'm comparing a well setup car V8 to a well setup turbo 4 cylinder...

I hope I can get the slips up here real quick. Bad example about the Pro Stock car. This is second hand info. I am really going to try and get the owner to become a member here so he can shed some light on this.

Also owner has a 1020hp Lambo along with many other very fast cars. His Porsche is also on the cover of Europoean Car this month.

The tuner Chris has a 6 sec Grand National. So driving and tuning of this car is not being done by some inexperienced people who just got lucky.

I got the timeslip from the owner Alex. He faxed it to me, but I am having a problem posting because of the size. Email and I will send it to anyone you wants it. Maybe someone will have better luck getting it up here.

Many non-Evo owners are curious to hear more about this day at the drag strip.

If you have problems with image sizing, then might I recommend to use at the very least Microsoft Paint to skew the images down to size.

To use it, Click Start > Program Files > Accessories > Paint

In paint, click File > Open > obtain the file and open it

With the image open, click Image > Stretch & Skew > Change the height and width to like 50 percent or so. Try to keep the numbers equal.

This should shrink the image. When you are done, just save it and then host the image on the Internet.

The car is not gutted. It has the stock radio, speakers, seats, interior, door panels, dash.

There were some things taken out like front and rear bumper supports. Replace with carbon fiber were the stock decklid, stock hood, ultralight compact battery.

Edited:
Can't forget about the 7lb titanium exhaust, and titanium engine bay brace, etc...2881 lbs with 1/2 tank of gas at the Sacramento Track Scales.

He raced a mid 11 second mustang heads up. The mustang owner is livid when he got beat.

The video is crap. I'm coercing him to send me the raw footage and we can at least post what we taped.

What I mean by "crap" is that the camera operator was not given specific instructions on how to take good footage at the track.
