Shiv,

Props to you for tuning. Parts are useless without good tuning. What you did with so little is awesome. Good to see you working your magic with whatever tools people roll into your shop with. What the Evo's stock powerplant is capable of is simply amazing.

You said he made 3 runs. Did he shift into 5th in any of them? With that sort of mph in the 1/8th and that ET he should have trapped in the 127mph range at least.

Good stuff though. Congratulations.

Also I'm not sure if this was asked but is the car full weight? If not what is the weight with driver?

Must feel good to break into the tens so easily. Congradulations!

The time is a little confusing though. my best time in my car is this slip

1.713 60ft
7.138 1/8
101.38
11.011 at 126 1/4

I run 23 inch tires so I have to shift before the 60ft. I am having a hard time believing .1 better 60ft is gonna drop my quarter at least .4 ??????

what was his 1/8th mile time?

In the EVO VIII, 4th gear @ 7500rpm = 117mph

If he was reving out 4th gear at 8500rpm, shouldn't he have been going about 131-132mph through the traps?

An actual drag track "trap speed" is the average speed of the vehicle over the last section of the track. It is either 60' or 66', can't remember.

That's not the issue, how much is the speed going to change over about 4 car lengths at that speed level? My point was I hit about 117mph right at red line when I went through the traps at the DSM shootout, and he should have been hitting over 130mph at 8500rpm, especially if he was bouncing off the rev-limiter.

I just want to clear up a few things. There is a lot lies going on about who actually did the tuning.

After fixing a few plumbing issues with the boost controller and juicing up the maps, it was making a solid 410-420whp within 15 runs or so. I do believe that the car was, at one time, fitted with NOS but it was not used during the tuning. I don't know if it was at the strip or not. It would be best to ask the owner I suppose.

And Steve is correct. As the US importer of Dyno Dynamics and Autronic, he knows that our dyno reads as it should.

cheers,
shiv
Before anyone gets too uptight, notice above that Shiv did not take personal credit anywhere in his post for tuning the car.

Also the reason I believe the trap speed was a little low is because the car wasn't making power above 7,000rpm. Since he reved it to 8500rpm so he wouldn't have to shift into 5th gearit was actually loosing a bunch of power. In turn the trap speed was lower.

I believe he was running 30psi.
