I believe he was running 30psi.
30 psi on stock block and head?!?!??!?!?!?!

What difference does that make? He obviously had enough power to get up there. What martin is saying is that if he is at 8500RPM in 4th the math says 130mph or so. Why were the traps so relative to engine speed/ gear selection.

If he was reving out 4th gear at 8500rpm, shouldn't he have been going about 131-132mph through the traps?
That's 117mph figure is not exactly correct, but you're pretty close and I think you have a good case here. For support of this, I plugged the actual data into a gear speed calculator. Assuming you have the stock sized tires on with good tread (this was probably why you read lower mph-wise), use the site below.

http://pw1.netcom.com/~sgalaba/mph.htm

Plug in data:
235 wide
45 aspect ratio
17 diameter
1.031 4th gear ratio
4.529 FDR

From that, we see that you are traveling the following speeds at the following rpm in 4th gear:
137.16mph at 8500rpm
129.09mph at 8000rpm
121.01mph at 7500rpm
112.95mph at 7000rpm/redline

These are mechanical numbers from the gear ratios and when using correct tire size with good tread, they mathematically cannot be disputed. Speedometer innacuracy or excessively worn tread is much more likely.

and he should have been hitting over 130mph at 8500rpm, especially if he was bouncing off the rev-limiter.
I agree completely. 4th at 8500rpm is 137mph, as seen above. Good posting. Maybe he lifted a bit early at the end? Something is definitely low about that trap.

Definitely! When I said "you know what that means", I meant that: "the fastest Evo VIII in the world torch has passed from Dynoflash."

Relax RNR. The thread states that it is an "RNR built car". Nobody is trying to take your credit.

just to get technical, DYNOFLASH still is the fastest out there. RNR is the quickest j/k

you guys rock and i can't wait to see what is coming next.

Oh Sweet Lord, please make it stop. I guess we could reference 1/8th mile times, and that RNR car is DEFINITELY the fastest. 100mph in the 660' is freaking smokin'!

Obviously the "bouncing off 8500 rpms" isn't right. To me it sounds more like it was bouncing off a rev limiter set at 7700. RnR, what is the Rev limiter set at? If it is really set at 8500, then something else was slowing that car down. Maybe something broke.... If not, that trap speed reflects an 11.6 not a 10.6. Of course that 1/8 mile 100mph is a different story. I'm confused.

To clarify, I did draw on Shiv for input. While on the dyno I did ask lots of questions before tickling the keyboard. What would you expect from someone that's put down over 800+ runs and probably over 3000+ runs on all the EVO8's that roll up on his dyno. Drawing from my experience and his experience with
this motor, I performed the actual tuning on the keyboard with the Autronic.

I also want to give mucho props to Ryan at RnR for putting out a turbo that makes more power with more boost. There seems to be no end in sight.

Shifting into fifth or leaving it in forth has almost nothing to do with final E.T.

lets take a look.

lets say he stopped accelerating at 123 and coasted the last 150ft. and trapped an E.T. of 10.6 at 123.

now lets say the last 150 ft he reached 130 instead.

123mph is 135ft/sec
130mph is 143ft/sec

car going 130 beats 123 car by 8ft.

it takes 123 car .059 to go last 8ft.

since the 130 car is accelerating from 123 to 130 the last 150ft it takes about half the .059 or .03 second difference. thats right .03 slower E.T.

Imagine how much mph is lost during a shift to fifth gear? lets exagerate and say he lost 1mph by shifting to fifth. that calculates to about .0035 second difference.

Good E.T. is all about the first half of the track.
