My goal is to get this stock block X into the 10's or as close as possible. But the launches/60' have been kicking my butt, and I am not afraid to admit I need work.
Car traps 126mph, so it makes some power for a stock 4B11. Weighs roughly 3350-3400 with me in it. It's on a T4 6266. Stock X 5 speed trans (stock final drive) with the shep diff pins, and repacked Evo 8 rear diff / Ralliart CV shafts. For a clutch, It's an ACT 6 puck, Evo 8 clutch master & clutch pill removed. The car is on Hoosier QTP's, 26x9.5x16. Launch control is set to 5750rpm.
My technique: I've been launching AWD DSMs for over a decade, I do not use the parking brake. I basically 2 step and release the clutch slightly to load before actually launching it just before the light turns green. I've had no issues cutting 1.6's on street tires in high 300WHP DSMs. So that is how I have been launching this. I did try the e-brake method to preload it with the clutch slightly dragging on the 2 step, but when I launched I bogged the crap out of it. Perhaps it's the coordination I messed up.
Launches for me either consist of bogging, spinning, or a weird combination of none but still not fast enough to cut a good 60'. I am struggling, best its been has been a 1.7, most are complete crap 1.8-2.0's (I know, I know, I've had FWD cars on all seasons cut better times LOL)
I think my tire pressure was a bit high, 20-21psi in the QTP's. Most people I've talked to so far are down to 14-16psi. Maybe that's part of the problem (when I spin anyways) I still need to see how much boost it builds, maybe I need to sit on the 2 step a second longer. Maybe I need to practice the hand brake launch more and get that down better. Maybe my 1-2 shift is killing my times as well, since I can only rev it out to 8200 it takes a split second to come back into boost. Maybe I need NLTS? I know that's past the 60' mark, but still early enough to play a role in ET compared to say then 3-4 shift. I definitely need more seat time.
Any input/tips/tricks would be great. The best I've gotten was on the FP Black, where (again with a poor launch) I ran an 11.6 @120. I did the same on the 6266, but after a couple tweaks the car has been able to trap 125-126 consistently, but my times have gotten worse.
