BR500 at the dragstrip results........
hey guys just got home from the track, first off, the people in my area need to learn to drive cause out of 9 evos and 4 stis, the fastest one was 13.4@102!!!! unreal, anyway, we did my kit and flashed it, and i was expecting a little more power, but it was on 94 octane and was very humid so im not to dissapointed. the only thing thats killing me is the LAG!!!! i have to ditch the MAF i think..any other ways to get rid of the lag? so here are the two runs...

so i wish i was near 12.0-12.2 but didnt get it, when the thing spools up its sick, but in between each shift you get a fraction of a second where it needs to spool, if i got rid of that 12.0 deff i think, maybe 11's.....but for now im happy MPH is good i think with a spooling problem and i learned to slip the clutch pretty good i think too.....guy hit the wall at 138 mph and shatered his car, he was fine but it was scary, he ran a 10.7 spinning into center of track then crashing into wall then crossing finish line with that ET!!!! sick!! any info on the spooling issue please feel the need to help!! thank!

The lag in between your shifts are definitely hurting your time and trap speed. Ditching the MAF and better tuning should help spool up.
I believe the AEM has a two step rev limiter setup that you can use to do no-lift shifts down the track. That should help your times significantly as you won't have to deal w/ lag.

The MAF is not the major contributor to the lag of this turbo. Both Vishnu and Dynoflash have made 400-500hp using the MAF. Dynoflash even did it with a reflash. I am almost 100% sure none of there cars had lag @ 5000rpm. What did Al say when he was tuning it? You can't tell me he thought that type of lag is normal. That lag is in GT35R territory without the power.

Spoolup varies depending on which gear you're in. For example, you can hit 15 psi of boost at 3500rpm in 4th gear. In 5th gear, you'll hit 15psi at 3200rpm.
The lag evo8power's talking about is the lag in between shifts. AEM has an anti-lag feature that can help this also I think.

Lag is mostly on the exhaust side of the turbo. The MAF may cause a restriction to incoming airflow, but not enough to cause a lag type delay in power.
Also, you said it was Humid. Humid air is like free octane. Moist air is better than dry air as far a detonation is concerned.

Your claimed 385whp does not correspond to your traps of 111, 112mph.
Did you run straight 94 or mix in a bit of racegas to achieve that 96 octane that your car was tuned on???
If you ran straight pump, perhaps the ecu was pulling timing??

i was runinng about 116 octane with a tiny bit of 93 in the tank....i was shifting at about 7200 and was having great launches......it just seemed that between shifting, the car died for a second before it got going and then took of again.....Al was a little disapointed about the lag and it didnt seem he thought it was normal when we took it for a ride. a was hoping for about 12.0 12.2 at 114-117 and if i got rid of that lag im sure i would be there.....i still have stock upper intercooler pipe and a moddified hks suction kit for the MAF pipe, i woudl like to get the buschur in both of those pipes and see what happens, even if it coudl spool around 4000-4300 would make a world of difference...
So your car was tuned for 96 octane, but you used C16 at the track? Well that's probably why your car didn't do too great. C16 is ~118 octane. So you probably had a lot higher than 96 octane that your car was tuned for in your tank. Higher octane gas is slower burning and requires more timing to ignite. If you just run your street timing, you'll be losing power for sure.

How is your hks racing suction intake modified? Doesn't the intake pipe taper down to 2.25" at the turbo inlet while your BR500 turbo has a 3" inlet? That sounds like another big contributing factor to lag right there.

look at your dynosheet. what ever rpm the power starts to fall off you need to shift like a few hundred rpms sooner. if power falls of at 7300 then shift at 7000 do need to go all the way to red line.
Also call Doug at Boost Solutions he just made 11.8 pass on the stock turbo. so with the up grade turbo you should be faster. Also I would ditch the dynoless flash for something else that will work better for your car. My 2cents.
