Does anyone downshift through multiple gears???

Meaning, you're in 5th gear coming up on a 2nd or 3rd gear turn - do you heel-toe through 4th to get to 3rd or even go through 3rd to get to 2nd?? Or do you get all of your braking done and shift from 5th to 2nd or 3rd???

From watching the best motoring videos (good for learning ), and passenger riding in races... I have always seen them downshift through each gear, but if they are good, its usually faster than what it takes for the average person to downshift from 5th to 2nd or 3rd, its truely amazing... I try heel and toe maneuvers all the time, I haven't gotten any better though, but its definitely something you need to know for the track.

I find that I go through every gear when down shifting. If anything I find it removes me having to think about what gear I am in. If I jump gears, 4th to 2nd for example, I have a higher occurance of mis-shifts -- especially under the G-load of cornering.

Its about not locking up tires and not upsetting the balance of the car. Practice when it is not critical. I have always match revved downshifts and have clutches for over 100,000 miles. My worst ever was my MR2 at 85,000. Flogged the **** out of that one. 120 on my Focus with no problems in trans.

Ditto, I do it allllll the time now. The scary part was when I borrowed my father's Tundra and was heel-toeing (or at least trying, the pedal placement is HORRIBLE)
