how often do you engine brake?

how often do you engine brake?

i just wanna know if its ok to engine brake once in a while after going at a high speed? i use the heel-toe technique..

Yes, you'll be fine. I heel-and-toe all the time when taking cruises through twisty roads or even just around town for fun (not at very high revs for the latter). Just make sure your technique is good and you're not shocking the engine by popping out the clutch when it's not rev-matched.

I engine brake all the time. As long as it's done correctly, you will be fine and it will make you a better driver.

Manual states to always engine brake, because it's "illegal in many states" to coast with the car in nuetral

i would not use engine breaking,its not good for your engine,it puts extra stress on your engine,just use hee; and toe method its very easy and fun

more importantly, neutral is a gear but not designed for coasting, you can hurt your trans by driving at speed in neutral..... no crap
