trust me, you will know it when you smell it. it is so pungent you can't miss it.

how does removing the restrictor pill (im guessing this is the one in the boost line) and a SS clutch line eliminate the smell when you launch?

It is the restrictor pill in the clutch hydraulics....I think it's in the outlet of the clutch master cylinder.
It slows the movement of the clutch to make engagement/ modulation smoother. By removing it your clutch engages quicker, so less burning clutch, but requires more care to modulate smoothly.

Oh, and as for the smell...
Burning clutch smell is nauseating...smells similar, but much worse, than burning tires, and your stomach turns 'cuz you know what that new clutch is gonna cost you.....

 

I personally know the smell of burning clutch from when I learned stick and stalled my old car a few times. I also let out the clutch at a little higher RPM than I should have. After that experience, I parked the car, got out, and smelled clutch. To verify, I kept sniffing and put my nose closer and closer to the front wheel wells and it got more repugnant.

I feel "if you think the repugnant smell is your clutch and you have reason to believe it's your clutch -- it's the clutch!"
