1. Line your car up w/ the car that will be in front of you.
2. Cut the wheel all the way to the right and back that thang up.
3. In your side mirror, once you see that your rear doors have cleared the rear bumper of the car in front of you, straighten out the wheel.
4. Still looking in your side mirror, watch the curb and start to cut your wheel to the left once you're maybe 8 inches or so from it. This is the hard part, you'll just hafta keep doing it till you get a feel for your car.
4a. Don't forget about that car in front of you and don't cut the wheel to the left until your front tires have cleared the rear bumper.
5. Once your front bumper has cleared the rear bumper of the car in front of you, straighten out your wheel and back that thang up till you're nice and comfy.
6. Step outside and admire your nice parallel parking job.

i used to be HORRIBLE at parallel parking, but with my bf living in the city, there's no where else to park besides on the streets so i was forced to learn.
1. I usually just pull up next to the car that's in front of the open spot, be close to the car about a foot away.
2. I reverse a few feet straight back, then I turn the wheel hard.
3. Slowly start to straighten the wheel, not all the way though, and keep reversing into the spot, clearing the front end.
4. Pull foward and straighten if you have to, and reverse to adjust the amount of spacing between the cars.
EDIT: I don't really use my side mirrors, I turn my head/body to see where I'm going, then I'll turn back to the front check if everything's ok, look back again. I use the side mirrors/rear view mirror only to check and see if I still have more room to back up. but living in the city, most people just tap the cars in front or back of them, which pisses me off cuz i have hella scratches on my bumper from those jerks

1. Line up your car with the other. I always go alittle ahead of the car im using as a guide.
2. Start to back up, until YOU pass or are somewhat even with the driver seat; at this point, begin to cut the wheel
3. Continue to back up until the nose of your car is at about a 90 degree angle.
4. Once the 90 degree angle(give or take) is hit, begin to turn the wheel, while still backing up.
5. Adjust accordingly by putting into drive and fixing your angle.
If you follow the same procedure everytime, you'll be within 12 inches of the curb.
