Shifting an evo correctly. ????
o and if you care about launching it, try to slip it instead of dump for the same reason as shifting, its gonna put alot more shock to the tc and whatnot
2step is a two step process. lol.
First step- Be totally stopped on a level surface and be in 1st gear, then rev to your limit point (5-6500k, depends on the tune) with the clutch in.
Second step- Either slip the clutch (let out until you feel it engaging) or dump the clutch (totally let go of her).
and boom shockalocka you go a launch!
Dumping the clutch is terrible on the car, and im sure you can guess why.
does that clear the 2step up for you?

so its better for the car when you slip the clutch in 2step?
just rev it to 8k and dump it ....
no what i do is my 2step is at 6500rpm i build about 14-15 psi slowly slip till feel a little grap and then dump it smoothh though , not like a honda running of the limiter..(the red area on the gauge)..
couple or even one wrong launch and poof there go's the drivetrain .. my 1st clutch 3000 miles

double clutching is a down shifting technique, you never use it when you up shift because you wont need to match revs unless you have a very very slow hand. Double clutching from say 4th to 3rd is 4th-clutch in-neutral-clutch out-rev-clutch in-3rd-clutch out. what it does is when you let the clutch out in neutral and rev you get the gears spinning at the same speed as the engine perfectly, it reduces a rear to front weight transfer which can throw of the balance of the car during turn in.
sorry forgot to mention i think i have 13,000 mile now ..tomorrow new clutch (exedy twin) and new transmission (shep??) just because it grinds in 3rd & 5th ..
im learning the hard way "NOT to drive it like a HONDA".. lets just say about $7,000 in the drivetrain..im going to learn how to shift it smoother ...
im just waiting for the death whine ..anyday

i have another question... if im crusin in 4th, and need to drop gears into 2nd.. is there anyway to do that other than just shifting it down? is it bad??
cause with hondas, you can be in 4th, and drop and floor it... do i need to double clutch to do that?
Throttle (cruising)- Clutch in - Blip throttle - Put in lower gear - drop clutch quickly.
Try "Clutch in and Blip Throttle" at the same time.
it may be difficult at first. be sure not to use to much throttle hence the "blip".
I'll make a video of it sometime this week.
not my video but you get the idea. http://youtube.com/watch?v=G772mJSYnw8&feature=related

These two terms get confused all the time. It seems like our generation(20 yr olds) know double clutching to be powershifting. I get yelled at by the muscle heads all the time about powershifting.
