Launching the MR (yeah, another one)
Launching the MR (yeah, another one)
Don't yell at me. I've read a bunch of threads. I know about the 'secret' SST launch mode, but I also learned that it's hard on the tranny. Looking for something in-between.
I just got to 300 miles on my '08 MR so can use full throttle. When I attempt to launch by just flooring the gas, the car sits there doing not much for about a second, moves out gently for about 20 ft and then cuts loose. I tried a hard brake check and 3000 rpm launch, but it didn't seem any better.
Looking for a technique to get moving quicker off the line, but don't need the competition launch (& clutch damage) provided by the 5000 rpm mode. Any ideas to try?
Thanx, WAM

My X MR wouldn't do anything related to a launch until at least 1500 miles. It's sooo much better now that it is past 3000.
MR has shorter gear ratio, therefor its easier on the car when launching.
under reving the car and releasing the clutch to fast is going to clunck and hurt it more.
over reving which i dont think you can do thats what the launch control is for, would be hard on the clutch.
just launch the car how its supposed to it, just dont do it at every stop light and you will be fine.
