Actually, brake pressure should NOT be linear... On the track, braking as late as you can means precious seconds off of your lap time... That also means extreme care with brake or you lock up and run into the gravel. When you brake initially you don't want full pressure because you have to wait for the front suspension to load up first, and as there's more weight in front then you can go on full brake. Linear means you either lock up, or you're not braking as hard as you can.

If u pull ur e-brake as hard as u can while ur driving... u will lock up ur rears and the back of ur car will fishtail. Don't even think about trying it, no fun... except in proper places

When I drive over dirt, i do that sometimes to throw up clouds of dust and blind the person behind me

i brake slow once to a complete stop and try to never brake at all. I once counted my number of brakes on the highway from NYC to Buffalo and I only braked two times during the whole trip (braked to go into gas stations). I had 53,000 miles on my front AND rear brake pads on my RX300 and the pads were only 1/2 worn. I replaced them anyway. My rotors still feel and look new.

Question I'm Confused????

Why are u changing your brake pads when they're only half worn? If you're going to change them like that, you might as well use them. I'd rather use my brakes than to downshift to slow down because brakes are cheaper to replace. But if you have the money, by all means don't use your brakes and still replace them.

There's a thread about downshifting to slow down and whether or not it puts stres on the trans, but just go read it and don't bring it up here. The thread got closed because people kept arguing.
