Umm.. Not sure if its been corrected already but Drifting is an RWD thing.. Not Really an AWD thing.. Infact the only AWD car mainly used for drifting would be a skyline and that has AWS as well.. But even the Skyline GTR isnt for that..They use the GTS which is RWD.If you watch drifting, Its mostly Corolla AE86(RWD),240SX/silvia(RWD),300zx(RWD),Supras(RWD),350Z(RWD).. Notica a pattern here?Very few AWD cars take part in drifting.I notices maybe 1 or 2 !G DSM's in drifting and no Evos.

AWD/FWD handbraking would be considered as powersliding.Although I do agree that it isnt smart to Powerslide in a AWD car unless you have all the essentials( Diff's,etc.)
Just my .02

NOT TO START A FLAME WAR OR ANYTHING,but If you even think of TRYING to tell me I am wrong on this one.. I have a friend who does Drift Competitions..And I can pull up any automotive article ever written on drifting andanything that has been wriiten by Drifters.just warning you ahead of time.Oh yeah, one more thing that was said somwhere in here.. He may not be ASE certified but I will be in a few weeks.I went to UTI for this and I know how Diffs and Viscous couplings work.. I can take them apart and fix them within a hour or 2 depending on if the parts are readily available.. Just so you know. And I AM A CHICK at that.. ok I am off the soapbox now.. Anyone care to use it? lol

Yes, that's what I meant - thanks... I generally don't think of drift competitions when the word drifting is brought up - they just make me think of horsepower smoke shows. Not my cup of tea anyway.

ah Gotcha.. See Drifting to me is Drifting..But WRC is totaly different.I agree there that that is dominated by AWD.. Infact you wouldnt want a RWD or FWD for it.There just isnt the same control there as there is in AWD.WRC isnt my cup of tea either... so I can see where there would be confusion.. lol.I am more Drag racing and Drifting competition style.. I like the HP smoke shows as you would say.. lol.But its still about how much control you have over your car as you are completely sideways and how smooth your transitions are.

On another note I have a friend who was a Co-Driver for a friend of his that did Rally racing.. Obviously not WRC but he did some Amature racing.I am learning alot from my Friend which was the Co-Driver.. I just like my Drag racing and HP Smoke shows (drifting) better.

Where I live, its mostly dirt roads or roads with gravel on them. Thats why I wanted to know how to get my car drifting.

I just haven't had the time to try. When I go and leave work, there are to many cars in the streets.
