I installed the heavy spring first thinking bigger is better but hit the fuel cut even with the with the valve backed off completly at 26psi. I also mispoke yesterday, what I meant to say was 35 clicks from full open (-) arrow not from full closed
The springs must have changed from previous versions on the Forge valves
+1 I got mine a couple of days ago and i opened and greased it a bit, it holds solid at 22 psi from a couple of clicks, maybe ten from completly being closed. For some odd reason i cannot get passed 19 psi on 1st gear and 20 psi on 2nd, every other gear holds 22psi steady. I didn't change the spring. Dunno what is going on

You won't see full boost in the first two gears, the load on the car isn't great enough. Set your peak boost using 3rd gear.

Yes, that's why I asked when you got yours, Mango. Al reported on the Buschur Forums last week that people should no longer use the stiff spring unless they're using alky. We were not notified of any changes to the spring or the MBC design, but there is definitely a change.

So, anyone who gets one from here forward should START with the soft spring and turn it up until you get to the desired boost levels. If you only get to 19psi at max, then you have one from an older batch and need to use the stiff spring.

Yes, that's exactly how it should be.

I don't get it. I used to have a halman and it went 22 psi all the way on all gears, it pulls pretty hard, but it's still kinda weird that it wont go as far as the hallman.

There's no way the Hallman went to the same boost in every gear. Absolutely no way. Less load = less boost. 1st and 2nd gear never get to full boost. Wherever you peak in 1st, you will peak higher in 3rd....and 4th...and 5th. That's just how it works. I used a Hallman for a year and did my 12.000 using it. Now, my Forge is no different except that it doesn't taper as much and has the ratcheting knob.

It is imperative that each spring is seated properly and completely on the spring seat inside the unit for the unit to operate properly.

Here are some pictures showing each spring seated correctly on the spring seat:

If the springs are not correctly positioned on the spring seat, the distinct possibility for inconsistent boost fluctuations exsists and will not go away until the springs are seated properly.

Good point with the spring seating. Always pays to doublecheck the details!

Hmm, guess i didn't look right the first time. Glad to know my mbc is working fine and i didn't even had to change the spring, and it does hold boost steady and doesn,t taper like the hallman, that much is true
