WALBRO fuel pumps REQUIRED on all MBC and EBC equiped cars

Guys, I am instituting a REQUIREMENT that all MAIN IN reflash orders must have a upgraded Walbro fuel pump if you are running any form of boost control - MBC or EBC on any 2003 - 2005 Evo 8 (Evo IX NOT included)

Custom tuned cars will still be accepted on the stock fuel pump - without cams as I can then monitor the situation more closely - however it is still STRONGLY suggested to have a walbro pump in all cases

If Walbro fuel pump is not listed in the mods I won't install a reflash unless you agree to purchase a walbro fuel pump - source Buschur Racing 440-839-1900

In the past I have suggested Walbro fuel pumps strongly

90% of my customers have followed my suggestion

For those 10% who dont want to spend the $90 or so to get the pump to help make a more stable and reliable main in flash, I am sorry I cant help you

Also * * * ARP head studs and ROD BOLTS are also suggested

Finally, I am lowering the MAX rev limit to 7700 - from 7800 on all mail in flashes - stock is 7606

Thanks

Al,

I guess I was one of the 10% you were refering to. Just to give you guys a clue, I had Al custom tuning mycar the first time under the following conditions:

No upgraded fuel pump
No head studs
MBC
CAMS
and the rev limiter to 8000rpm

As you can see, I have been running my car under the opposite conditions that he ideally wants/prefer. That gives you an idea of how safe his tunes are.

But lets get to the point, he improved his tuning methods to a much safer level and I think we all should consider that, I will be the first one to change my tune to his new sugested seting. My car has been runing flawlesly but if he says he suggest upgrading the listed mods then that is what need to be done guys!!

Thanks for the update Al.

Carlos

he just said thats for a mail in flash only! you have a custom flash you should have no problems... when you do mail in's it's just a basic flash but everycar has its own weird parameters!

I think all flashes should require a fuel pump upgrade.

Al, would you go on to recommend all flash customers upgrade the fuel pump even on stack boost control? I plan on purchasing a flash pretty soon but I plan on keeping the cars original boost control system intact. (solinoid, pill, etc...)

Yes - its the same

The IX pump is slightly stronger than the 8 one but the walbro is the best bet as with the IX the pump runs out of steam when the car starts making power as the IX's do !

No need for a pump upgrade with stock boost

Thanks

I am just not feeling trying to help out someone who is trying to cut corners with their car and save a few bucks only to find other tuners nit picking my work

I rather just do it once and do it right

When you raise the boost you really need a fuel pump

I get much better results on cars that have fuel pumps and it removes an unknown variable which can result in a disapointing result for the customer and myself

if it means a few less sales at years end, I can deal with that

I only want the best possible product
