^Is your turbo/engine okay dude? Looks severe.... I had an RS kit in my Sti for about 3 days, took the piping apart and saw some dust in it. I'm still worried about my turbo and stuff....

You can put another type of HKS filter on it.

I have some info on the filtration difference between two HKS filters. I'll e-mail them to you if you want. PM me.

Sorry if this (^) sounded like top-secret stuff. It's on an excel sheet which was too large and didn't attach!!

It's basically a comparo on filtration performance (no figures) and pressure drop (no figures again, from HKS Japan.

I have an HKS RS Pipe coupled with a APexi Power Intake filter.

That's pretty scary! Definitely makes you think again before using a foam filter.

stick with the stock airbox and a drop in filter, and you wont have this problem.

But, if you must spend (waste) the money on an intake, then at least purchase a separate tube with the Apexi Power Intake Filter. That and the Blitz SUS filter are the best open element air filters out.

Of course the best is being defined as the filter which actually FILTERS out unwanted dust, diry, debris, etc.....

this is just a basic service problem

1. take out filter clean in sink with dishwashing liquid and warm water.

2. let dry and then coat outside of filter with light coating of filter oil.

3. reinstall filter making sure you have a good fit.

I never have any dirt inside of my intake.

There's a page (prob still on google) that someone did a direct comparison between various filters. And they come to a conclusion that the foam type (like the HKS RS) and the metal type like Apexi's are not good for filtration. They may flow a lto of air but they suck for the purpose.

The best kinds are the dry cotton type and second is the wet(oiled?) type. Get the Dry cotton (K&N and a few others make them too) filters like those from BR and AMS and such.

So there you have it.. HKS RS is really a Ricer to Filters as VTA BOV to Recir valves. :}
