Since Al won't answer...

I had my car tuned by Al last Friday, and have PM'd him twice with no response (I am SOOOOOOOOOO shocked. I won't even get into that here).

I am having an issue when I am in 3rd, 4th, or 5th and start accelerating without downshifting - not punching it, just smoothly accelerating. I originally noticed it in 5th gear, but now it does it in lower gears as well. I have a Buschur cone filter on, and when it just starts to get into boost, I hear the air sucking in and then it breaks-up or sputters and then starts sucking in the air again.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

Does the boost raise and then lower and raise and lower drastically? If so, it's turbo flutter.

No, I didn't notice that, but I will try watching for it. Thanks for the suggestion!

After I got tuned, I had that problem, it was weird. Only in fifth gear, though. When in fifth gear and floored I'd get a lot of flutter. It turned out my turboxs bov was too tight.

check your spark plug gap. i think 24-28 is the best. smaller for higher boost.

Do you have an aftermarket BOV? If so, that may be the issue, if not, it may be on backwards. Mine was installed backwards from the factory and a lot of other people said theirs were too, though I I have an VIII. Not sure if it's as much of a problem on the IX's.

I started a thread about it so you can search if you want

I have an 06 IX, factory turbo, BOV, etc. The only mods I have are Buschur MBC, Buschur cone filter, TBE, and Walbro pump.

He basically has the BR/WR stage 1 and that has been proven over and over again to produce around 330 whp.

I would also like to know why this thread was moved to the DynoFlash forum? I tried PM-ing Al twice with no response, and just because I said that in my thread it is moved?

I wanted it in General because I am now looking for anyone else that may have this issue. What does it have to do with DynoFlash, other than the fact that there was something negative about him not returning PM's when he has obviously posted on the board since I PM'd him. Yes, he tuned my car, but does that mean the Moderators KNOW that it has to do with the tune and therefore needs answered in DynoFlash?

I'm sure if I had said what a great job he did it would still be in General.

I also have a flutter in 4 gear and only when starting in low RPM's and then punching it. While it's under load until like 15psi and once it hits 21-22 it goes shh-shh-shh and the boost gauge does flutter back and forth ~3lbs. I've been told as well it's surge but what I want to know is how to get rid of it.

I too have a custom Al tune but this only started for me once I added a hardpipe intake. Checked all connections, running MR DV, other mods are in link in sig.

Edit: All other gears hit hard and quick like they should, and even 4th is ok as long as I downshift to it or start in the high r's before jumping on the gas.

I think you are seriously confused

if you title the thread "Since AL won't answer" that is why they direct it here so I can answer you -

Maybe if you wanted to have a dialouge about compressor surge and bov calibtartion you should have titled the thread with a title directed more to your technical issue?????

It sounds like your "issue" is normal compressor surge and sounds you hear with a open element air filter - I would have tio hear more about the condition to make sure and know your full list of mods.

As for answering your PM 's since last Friday I have been racing at the Shootout - drioving from Ohio to CT and the to NJ and then flying to AK where I am now

Tomorrow I go to TX and then VA

Its been a busy week for sure

Please keep a grip of yourself
