AL, took my car to mitsu....

Yo al, i took my car to mitsu and they found the flash on it and voided my warranty there bud, now what? I was there for hours talking to the guys, but no cigar. Warranty gone, and on top of that my car is getting slower and slower every day. I think i should be given a refund. Not saying your tune was bad, it was good on day 1, but now on a steady way down to no power. Please respond so we can handle this matter or leave me a PM here. Thanks

You took your car to the dealer? For what - "regular service" - why would you do that? The intervals are not covered by Mitsu and an independant garage would've charged you much less.

As for your car getting slower, how's that clutch of your's doing?

What does any of that matter. The fact that they found the flash is the important issue. I thought it was "undetectable"

What was your car at the dealership for to begin with?

Hmm, this is not good news.

Yeah, i spoke to a service guy at a dealer when I was having one of my WORKS customers flashed. We were there because he needed to get re-keyed. Sometimes my customers cant do the mail in so i have a spare P2 flashed ECU in stock and i trade with them. It was a huge ordeal because apparently now all dealers are supposed to report any mods they notice to mitsubishi. He asked my customer why he needed a re-key and he told him because we're swapping ECU's (we have to do it at the dealer or the car doesnt start when the new ECU is plugged in). They guy came back and told us if we put the ECU in the warranty is gone. I asked him what warranty is gone...and he replies back with the entire vehicle warranty. I quote the Magnuson-Moss act of 94 and he says it's a pile of BS and he doesnt care even if there was a law. He said mitsu tells him what he needs to do and does it. On top of that, he wanted to charge us $85 per key on something that literally takes less than 5 seconds to do.

Later on he came back and told us he'd do it for free and wouldnt note the mods in the system. He also explained how he would prefer that people enjoy their cars and mod them but MMSA denies warranty claims really easily now and they end up getting the bill unpaid my Mitsu becase of a bad judgement call on whether they should service the car or now under warranty.

That's very intersting that the dealer found your flash. They would have to cross-check the data with another flash side by side. It's not like they have a machine they plug in and says "beep beep beep illegal flash." How long did they have your car for. Sounds like they werent servicing it, but rather were looking for mods on your car. That should be illegal IMO. As a side note, i've stopped selling the trade-in flash cause every time i go to the dealer now they ask me why i want to trade ECUs, then they bring up the whole warranty voiding thing. As soon as I get a MUT-II that problem should be no more.

ZeroFrost, I think maybe you should have gone directly to Al with this matter if you are wanting a refund. When you are a customer and are returning a product do you normally go outside the place of purchase and buy a billboard sign and advertise "My product sucked and I want a refund" I am sure you wouldn't do that (I hope). These matters should be handled in private... IMHO.

Don't get me wrong, this is a public forum, but I believe there is still a right and a wrong way to do things. I am not even saying you don't have a legitimate gripe, but you should have just called AL yourself! Too many people use e-mail because it's less confrontational. If you were going to tell the guy his product was inferior you could have at least stepped up and called him first, or PM'D... Maybe you already did, but it doesn't sound like it.

We need a post entitled "What has Mitsu Stealership warranted on Evo 8 customer's cars."

My guess is not a damn thing. What was this scam a while ago about having to bring your car into the stealership for a "weight sticker" which correctly gave the maximum load an Evo could pull. WTF? This ain't a Ford F-150. Anotherwords, they were gonna scan the ecu, look inside the engine bay, under the car, etc..

I don't understand why people "service" their car at the stealership - where no part of the service intervals are "free" as part of vehicle ownership. The stealership is notoriously higer in cost and poorer in quality. An independant shop could care less about your modifications and logically would not need to void warranties.

my 2 cent is that you have your MBC visible to the dealer and that lead from one thing to another and besides the fact most dealers will void your warranty if they see a MBC.

because of the expectancy that he has to uphold?
